Why say something like that about your client who's about to be the #1 pick in the NFL draft? Brain fart? SMH.....

I just read what he said and really don't have a problem with it. Few at that age are ready and he just stated a fact and that the NFL has things in place to help players with the transition.

Perhaps because he thinks it is the truth? I can't say JW was mature while at FSU. Hopefully he will change but coming into $$$$ will be a true test.

Agreed.

Cornwell is an "off the cuff" guy. Surprised he took that loose of a stance with his choice of words. He's a lawyer for crying out loud.

I don't disagree with him, however. Just not the best avenue to say it. The draft is weeks away, wtf?!

That isn't even truly accurate though.

I haven't seen the full transcript of what he said, but based on the two quotes, and some tweets from the event, it sounds like this is what he said or was trying to say.

"Jameis Winston is ready to be a pro on the field, but not ready to be one off the field, but that doesn't make him unique, as most rookies aren't ready for the off the field stuff, which is why we have the rookie symposium, etc"

But it is easy to see how you could take a paragraph that includes some of those sentences or fragments, and turn it into a 'story.'

what tommy said. unfortunately, the headline will just be the first part and that's what everyone will jump on.

I don't think Cornwell had ill intentions if you read the full transcript. ESPN, will make you think otherwise, as they only give you tidbits of the story and spin it the way they want to generate a story.

Yep, agreed. ESPN and others will bits and piece report it to use it for clicks.

These is absolutely no reason for him to say what he said. It is already implied, so to create a headline again does nothing for Jameis in this situation.
