Can't afford to rent anything here. Everything decent is taken. Everything decent and not taken is too expensive, and everything affordable all the reviews say they are infested with roaches and drug dealers.

My sister lived and Brandon when she moved to FL 10 years ago and she said the same. She now lives in Riverview, and own their home. It relates to supply and demand but is way out of walk for what you get.

Yeah it sucks. Renting is worse than buying. I'm a teacher and have a teacher's salary and have to spend half a months pay on rent.

There are much better areas of Tampa Bay. Why are you married to that submarket?

How much can you afford? How about a roommate. I have two rental properties in Tampa both 2/2s. One in Ybor that I rent for $1550 to a couple, and one in New Tampa that I rent for $1200 to two mid 20s roomates. If you look at the roommate option they are only paying $600 apiece. That's not that bad. I'm sure you can find something in that range if you consider not living alone.

I currently rent in Brandon/Riverview (Its off 301 and Bloomy so its Riverview but Technically Brandon). and I pay 1350 for a 3/2.5 with 2 car garage townhouse. I had similar townhouse I rented in Orlando for 1200.

If you want to buy in this area or further south the pricing's are much better but after this year I will be buying closer to Pinellas which is closer to work and parents for both wife and I.

And then you pay for cable and internet ($120) water/sewage ($50) and electric ($50). That brings it up to over 700 a month for each person. Then you have to take into consideration does the place have a washer/dryer? If not do they have a hookup causing me to buy one or do I need to spend my money/time at the laundromat? Where I was living last year I had a 1 bedroom place that I paid 750 a month for with everything included.

Valhalla Pond Town home Community. There are several units in there for rent that are 3 bed 2.5 bath with 1 car garages that go for 1200 to 1275... Which is a lot but there are a few good things
1. You don't pay for water its covered by the HOA water
2. Basic Cable (with Fios I believe but I have Brighthouse) is covered so even if you wanted extra stuff you will only pay about 40 to 50 extra.
3. They are well built so my electric bills on normal months are about 100 or less (more now with more AC use.)

So when we 1st moved back to Tampa a few years ago and decided we weren't going to buy until 2016 we originally rented an apartment at Camden Royal palms and quickly found out that between the noise and how much your paying and the horrible parking that renting a similar town home is the much better option. We could have gotten one for 1150 at that time with all the same stuff but waited too long and it got rented out. Next year our house is being built, already procured the land.

Might be a bit high for what you want to pay but again if you don't mind the roomate setup you could make out cheaper in this area.

Brandon and Riverview are NOT expensive. Sorry to burst your bubble. As others have said, get a roommate, move somewhere further out, or make more money.

We were lucky, bought our house in Riverview in 2002 (actually had it built) and it was not expensive at all. Since then it has obviously gone up a lot.

I will tell you what is expensive... Downtown Tampa and anywhere Southwest of that... The new high rise apartments they are building are going for as high as 3900 a month.

Compared to the other 3 places in FL I have lived it is by far the most expensive. I've lived in Tallahassee, Largo (Pinellas), and Lake Placid (Highlands), which were all half as expensive as where I am now.

Move to Sun City and ride a golf cart to work.

Hey, welcome to grown-up life.

Find a rich chick with enormous breasts. Seriously, it's the only way to solve the current problem.

Don't knock roaches and drug dealers. If you are having trouble making ends meet, roaches are good protein and drug dealers can provide you with something that makes you forget that you live in a shithole.

Roaches have never hurt anyone. Go that route.

OR

Head back to Largo and get a new job there.

My daughter bought a house on a teacher's salary. You're obviously doing something wrong.
I have plenty of money saved up from my first two years of teaching to be able to buy a house. However I never seem to stay in one area for an extended period of time. I get tired of everything easily and think things will always be better wherever I go. Therefore buying a house isn't what I want to do.

Read your above post outloud to yourself....you might change your mind after you do.

This is a good thing for the growth of the city. I live in Skypoint and love it. I don't believe the OP that he can't find a decent 1/1 in Brandon for very reasonable.
