I am borrowing a theme from jam ....

I liked Jam's Scott Bentley post (great one). Here is a similar one .... perhaps the greatest, unheralded play I've seen in the modern era for FSU came in the 1991 game against LSU in Baton Rouge. I was there.

This game was arguably the greatest "gut-it-out game" in FSU history.
. night game in death valley
. FSU ranked #1; LSU poised to know off FSU
. rained entire game (driving rain-storm second half)
. nothing (and I mean nothing) was going right for FSU (FSU gets down 13-zip right out of the gate)
. Robbie Long (starting center goes down - knee) out for game
. Mancini (starting left tackle goes down - knee) out for game
. Robert Stevenson (starting left tackle gets tossed) out for game
. Casey Weldon injuries knee (strained ACL) ... comes back late in game
. Edgar Bennet (starting Fullback separates his shoulder) ... out for second half

"The Play" .... In a slug-fest, FSU scores to go ahead 27-16 in 4th quarter, with #1 ranking on the line. Extra point is mishandled in rain, and holder (Brad Johnson) tosses an ill-advised ball toward the endzone ... you guessed it (picked off by a speedy LSU DB). LSU's DB races off, unimpeded, toward the other endzone.... Sophomore William Floyd (our 235lb backup-fullback), races 90 yards to run down the DB just before he gets to the endzone (at the 8 yard line) ... seemingly coming out of nowhere, with no other Seminole giving chase. I remember it like it was yesterday. A phenomenal play. Trust me, it would have given LSU enough momentum in the 4th quarter to come back -- and instead, William Floyd snatched it from them just as it appeared they had it. William Floyd became my all-time #1 Nole. A great play, by one of our greatest players.
