Wimbledon

Good stuff....Isner went on to win 70-68 in an epic fifth set in the 2010 Wimbledon Championships....this is a battle. Only 92 games to go to beat the record!

Anderson just broke serve to go up 25-24 and will now serve for the match.

It amazes me that these guys can so consistently hold their own serve and hardly ever break serve.

According to stats on Google, Anderson won 4 break points while Isner won 2. So, Isner won 48 total games and 46 were on his own serve...Anderson won 51 with 47 on his own serve.

I don't watch tennis much anymore so I have no idea if this is normal or just a few guys winning like this. I would think professional tennis players would be a little more rounded though and be able to break serve a little more.

To me it is like a football team saying they will score a TD every time they get the ball and just hope they can hold the other team to a FG once or stop them once.

6 hrs 36 mins. Crazy watching that. Fell asleep on the couch a couple of times and they were still playing, I was like waaaa? each time I looked back up. Isner was the same guy that was in that record marathon there a few yrs ago, 11 hrs over 3 days.

You are looking at THE two most difficult serves in the game to return. Combine that with the surface (grass), the dry weather and no 5th set tiebreaker and you've got a recipe for a match like this. It could only happen at Wimbledon.

Charles Kelly Defensive Scheme clearly defined in your last statement.

Isner ‘s only claim to fame is his win in the longest match @ Wimbledon. Otherwise a good choker except at the BB&T tournament in the ATL, which is a home match for him.

He also won at Miami this year......definitely a big-time event.

Dude has been amazing. Gotta wonder what is left in the tank after today, and after the Federer marathon. I will pull for him.

I do hope the non-US majors will revisit the no-tiebreak rule. That was a great match today and still would have been if one of the guys won the last set by tie break. Now, it's hard to imagine the final will be much of a match, though we can all wish for it.

I just can't pull for Nadal. There's something about him that grates on me.
I've never been a big fan of Rafa either, but I have to give him props for stopping to sign autographs when leaving the court when the match was suspended even though he had just lost the 3rd set.

Well looks like Anderson gets an extra day of rest. Rafa/Joker just got suspended until tomorrow.

Men's final will still be Sunday at 9am est. He's not getting an extra day. Rafa or Joker is getting less recovery.

I really wanted Isner to win. We left to go hiking in the 5th set and I couldn't believe how long it went on.

I'm a big Rafa fan so hopefully he can pull it off tomorrow. Problem is it's a 5am start for me. Doubt I'll see it.

Ki guess they didn't start that early but Rafa got it to a 5th set! Now the Ladies final is delayed.....

Yeah, that sucks. They could have sent the guys to Court One. Even better, they could have resumed the match at 11 a.m. instead of 1 p.m. local time.

I had to go to my kids doubleheader and missed everything. Disappointed Rafa lost but predicted it would happen Wednesday. Pulling for Anderson in the finals.

Damn. Anderson is getting pummeled. Body just can't recover after that marathon. Was hoping for a new champion.
Yeah. It would be interesting to know if Djokovic is just this much better or if this is more the result of Anderson's matches with Federer and Isner.
Oh, and i bet you wouldn't be wishing for a new champion if capri boy was playing this morning. :D

I'm running behind the live coverage, but it's looking like Nole and us Noles will be able to go straight from this final to the World Cup.

Against Anderson you are right! Haha. But I would have been conflicted if Rafa was playing Isner. I'm desperate for an American champion.
