Mike Jeffcoat (now former) head coach of Texas Wesleyan Baseball team for this old man/broad brush response to a potential recruit from Colorado.

"Unfortunately, we are not recruiting players from the state of Colorado," Jeffcoat's email said. "In the past, players have had trouble passing our drug test. We have made a decision to not take a chance on student-athletes from your state. You can thank your liberal politicians. Best of luck wherever you decide to play."

I saw that last night; didn't really remember him from his pro career so googled him & went to a wiki page about him that had been modified with a bunch of smartass comments about him. It was hilarious, wish I'd have snagged a screen shot of it.

He was fired today...

I'm sure there are some HS kids in Colorado who will literally thank their 'liberal' politicians.

This guy seems like not a fun coach.

It is a gap that has to be addressed. Legal behavior in 1 state not being legal in others. NCAA should address it. As long as you aren't holding the joint while pissing, then having it in your system shouldn't make you "pop positive".

There are tons of legal things you're not allowed to take if you want to play NCAA sports, Pot is simply one of them. I think it's stupid for it to be illegal at all, but it's no different than other drugs that are legal being outlawed if you want to play sports.

I agree with the NCAA rules, you know em, follow em. Even kids in CO have to follow them. But they are outdated on the NCAA part. They need to address. Plus, performance enhancing? yeah....

When I first started seeing these headlines I thought it was stupid that he was fired because of the drug test comment. I didn't realize the quote went on to include a political viewpoint.

Hmmmm.....seems like only certain people are fired for bringing politics into their workplace, weird.
