My son is home for Christmas and since he is studying gaming and programming he was showing us some stuff out there and podcasts I would never no about otherwise. One of the things he showed us was a pod cast from a couple of guys that showed some crazy animation mainly from the far east and by showing some things you can see that are about where to meet kids, the transportation of kidnapped youth etc. I will try and find the site or pod cast name; but it was scary and believable. What do folks in the LR know about this.

I think I read somewhere that if someone produces "fake" pedophilia via animation or photoshopping, etc., it is legally treated as pedophilia, as it should be.

I've read articles about YouTube being used to lure kids though videos that seem like kids friendly content, but isn't really. YouTube is under a lot of pressure to clean it up. I guess I've never explored beyond music videos and old sports highlights. Not surprised that pedos are using it to exchange information.

I have 6 year old and you have to be present when it comes to Youtube.

She uses Youtube Kids and still you need to make sure she doesn't venture onto sketchy stuff.

This reminds me of the local politician who years ago — during video store days — plunked his 3-4 year old daughter in front of the DVR to watch “Alice in Wonderland” while he made phone calls and otherwise acted like a big shot in his home office. The little girl had been watching for like an hour, and Hot Shot came out to check on her. To his mortification, “Alice in Wonderland” turned out to be the XXX version, and the daughter had been watching hard core porn for a good while.

Instead of owning his error, the local pol went on a crusade about how the video companies needed to be far more careful with making sure the right videos were in the right boxes. I mean, you could not expect the guy to do a better job or parenting. Can’t make this stuff up.

This is a difficult situation, esp., from the perspective of a mandated reporter. Our current laws have made seeking help essentially impossible for a person struggling with pedophilia. We also run the real risk of criminalizing a lot world renowned art like Nabokov novels and Balthus paintings. Just last week, one of the latter that is hanging in the metropolitan museum of art was threatened.

Doesn't matter what technology we have, the bottom % will always be there and try to dip their appendages into the victim pool. Even 20? years ago, when yahoo chat was the "in thing", you could get online and if you appeared to be viable target, you would be accosted. Deviant predators are always out there, if you assume this, you will never be surprised. The predators will always follow the prey.

Balthus is a pedophile. The fact that a certain portion of society would defend him, a la Roman Polanski and Terry Richardson, isn't shocking, but should be. Nobody is banning Nabokov, but nice add.

Your track record and the length to which you defend pedophiles is becoming alarming and, I think, telling.

Interesting way to spend Christmas Eve, good lord man. Maybe layoff the eggnog and back away from the keyboard the next time you want to make such an over the top personal attack on another poster.

Merry Christmas

When someone routinely defends pedophiles, it should be concerning.

Ho Ho Ho

This is a really nasty and frankly shocking attack. When have I ever “defended” a pedophile?! If you are going to be a total asshole and accuse me of something, then quit being a coward and actually say what you believe you have been told by my post in this thread or any other posts I have ever made about pedophilia.

I'm fairly sure I can't even post his paintings. We run the risk of criminalizing a pedophiles work? Really? This isn't the first time we've covered your penchant for pedophiles.

The work in the Metropolitan show was mostly produced between the 1930s and 50s but it didn't include Balthus' most notorious painting, The Guitar Lesson, which he painted in 1934. As recently as 2001, The New York Times refused to reproduce it - and you won't be seeing it in Post Magazine either - but the internet has now made it widely available. It features a woman whose right breast is exposed and who looks as if she's about to play, or play with, the naked private parts of the child splayed across her lap whose hair she's viciously pulling.

Every Wednesday afternoon in the 1990s, therefore, from the age of eight until the age of 16, Anna posed for the eighty year old artist, usually semi-naked. It turned out, although few people in the art world had known it, that he'd taken nearly 2,000 Polaroids of a the girl, the youngest daughter of his doctor. Afterwards, the pair would settle down to watch American television soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful, which is the sort of shrieking metaphor a director might hesitate to put in the film that is surely waiting to be made about Balthus' extraordinary life.

Show me one single instance of my having defended a pedophile. As you assert that I have done this routinely, you should have no problem, whatsoever, in meeting this absolutely minimal standard. Additionally, what have you found “telling?” Don’t be a coward; own your words.

Please don't, maybe just warn the 2 guys that have differing opinions. As a parent or just a concerned citizen I think this stuff is shocking. I consider myself very educated in the way the world is and have traveled the a lot. This stuff is scary and I think more people should be in the know. The link to he podcast is here Now maybe I am way off and these guys are kooks; but as a parent, especially young children this is odd stuff.
