Before Fuller was hired who did MN try to hire?

I thought Fuller was a backup plan at DC for Norvell. Im thinking there was a bigger name that was rumored to be coming to coach the defense but it didn't happen so Fuller was hired.

Does anyone remember if that was the case who it was? Or was Fuller always his top choice?
