How much money do you carry?

Usually I keep a $100 bill.

I make sure it's a bill because I won't break it for something unnecessary.

I usually carry a couple of hundred bucks and I usually pay for most things in cash. I don't like to rely on credit cards since there are times that my wife will max them out for something and I'm never 100% sure they will work.

Currently $146. About to hit up an ATM for another $200 for the weekend. Manhattan is cash intensive.

That is why you should have a Credit card account that she is not on.

On a plane back to Chicago from Dallas now. Been down here 3 days. Left home with 12 singles. Heading back with one! All $11 went to valets or doormen

Holy crap. That sounds like a recipe for disaster/divorce. Your wife randomly will go shopping and max out your credit cards?! This happens more than once? We never make any purchases over $1,000 with out at least talking about them, I can't imagine dropping thousands of dollars on random purchases without my wife knowing.

Cash is one of the best ways to budget, particularly with a family. With multiple credit cards and multiple members, it's damn near impossible to stick to a budget with credit cards. Budgeting comes after the fact when the statements come in. We were spending too much, so my wife and I each get a set amount of cash every two weeks to cover everything except for gas and maybe some online purchases. Online purchases reduce the next cash withdrawal.

Usually not 1 dime. If I have any cash i just spend it and then there's none so i figure whats the point. Right now i have 4440 cash because I'm going on a vacation and I probably wont use it unless its at a casino, which is a big possibility.

Usually 200-400 bucks but often times more than a grand. I live in a really safe place so I don't worry about theft. Usually, I use cards for day to day purchases so I can get the reward points but most of my shopping that requires cash is for fishing gear and fishing trips. I like to have enough on hand to purchase what I need when I need it. I don't carry balances on my CCs unless they are 0% intro offers..

Every credit card basically has an online login, so you can essentially view your credit card purchases in real time. This is what I do. I never look at the statements. Every expense I have is entered into an Excel spreadsheet and I have different spending categories for different things, such as groceries, gas, discretionary, dog, etc.

i rarely ever ever have cash on me. If I have cash, it is typically $20 or less. I try to put everything I can on my AmEx for the rewards. Because I pay the bill in full every month, it's basically free money.

Usually 15 to 50 bucks. When I lost my wallet, it had $400 in it because we were going on a month long motorhome trip. Sure glad I found it.

Usually get $100 from an ATM when I go and will last about a month. If I get cash from Publix after a purchase, I only get $50.

She puts stuff for her business on a credit card usually because she wants some particular points. She always pays them off at the end of the month but that doesn't mean I haven't tried to buy things only to have a CC denied in the past. It's pretty embarrassing.

I use my debit card for most everything. But, I take $200 out of the ATM when I deposit my check. I spend it down and repeat. If I run out of cash, I will take cash back at the store. I rarely ever have more than $200.00, though. Just don't see the point.

Do you see the point in direct deposit?

I STRONGLY believe in a 100% cash lifestyle.

My nickname is Rubberband Man, because I carry in excess of $2,000 in a special band at all times (of course, I am always armed:)

Credit cards give off the "easy purchase" feeling lenders love, because the physical effect of spending hard earned cash is removed.

Try making a $2-4000 purchase using cash and compare the feeling difference between counting out the Benjamin's and "swiping".

Really helps to separate the "wants" from the "needs" too.

Of course I have cards for travel, etc, but rarely use them, and when I do they are paid in full immediately.

Debt is the devil!!!

For a long time I carried 3 $100 dollar bills which I very rarely spent, I will still out of habit get 3 if I ever go into the bank, and carry them until I'm forced to spend them.

Typically I carry between $100 and $300 that I actually spend. I typically pull $200 and don't like to have less than $100.

It pisses me off when my wife doesn't have any money, and makes me think less of any guy that I'm out with, if a cash only situation comes up and they don't have money.

You're a grown man, for christsake, act like it. Carry some money.

Right now, I have $500 in my pocket because I'm buying a scope from friend this afternoon.

I carry about $15 - $30 most times. I do use a money clip for my cash and not my wallet.

I lost a $20 bill way back when I was just out of college and $20 was a big deal for me (I think I was making about $800 a month). I bought a money clip and have never lost a bill since.

Usually $50. for small miscellaneous items. Most everything paid by credit card for the points & credit card bill paid in full @ end of each month. I keep extra cash (a few hundred) hidden at my home and I keep around $6,000. in cash in my safe deposit box.

I recently had a business owner tell me he was contemplating charging a percent extra for use of a credit card as his fees on this was going up. Also recently went to pay a ticket at the court house ($116) and they accept a credit card, but charge an additional 3%. I paid cash.

I think there possibly will be a future trend of charging a fee to use credit cards.

I take out $100 in cash each pay period as fun money and small purchases. I also use the excess change so I can fill up my change bottle at the end of the year that I roll up and then put into my savings account.
