Las Vegas poised to join the first world

I was just listening to a freakanomics podcast yesterday that was all about Las Vegas. They are trying really hard to start an urban renewal I the old downtown area. It sounded very intriguing.

I work downtown. They have spent untold millions trying to fix the place up and it does look nicer but it is still a craphole. Too many bums wandering around hitting people up for $ and stinking the place up. The monied tourists are still heading to the Strip and the poor ones still go downtown so the Stip will always be the economic engine of Nevada.

As for the Chick-Fil-A you definitely can't stumble from the Strip down to that place. With that said its still closer than the current closest one which is in St. George UT.

On another note DQ I heard Buffet is only doing one show in Vegas this year.

Yea just one on the 17th. We have a room booked Fri-Mon but didn't get tickets. We picked up some good seats week of the show last year and will probably try for the same this year. You guys gonna go?

My wife and I have always stayed on the Strip but we did head to Fremont Street for a day about a month ago. It was surprisingly fun and I didn't think the hotels were that bad. I liked being able to casino hop (something that is difficult on the strip due to the size of the casinos and distance between them). I might stay at one of the Fremont Street hotels next time.

I live up by The Alieante Casino. Henderson is definitely on the far side of the world to me. I can't remember the last time I went down there.
