Manhunt in New York

It lacked this scene, and failed accordingly:

"He paused at the entrance to the galley and tried to gather up his intestines. He knew they didn’t like it on the Outside. Not a bit. They were getting all dirty. He wanted to weep for his poor, fragile intestines, who had asked for none of this.

They have purportedly made their "big" mistake as some video cam of a restaurant/convenience store shows two men dumpster diving for food not far from the prison.

I just find it incomprehensible that we have been fed such bullhonky about these two criminal masterminds - hanging around, waiting for what? A pizza delivery? You don't need to teach a course in prison escapes to figure out you should keep moving and then move some more. Good heavens we were oversold on these guys IQ.

I guess the "tip" was wrong, or maybe these guys are more clever than expected. Interesting that they remain at large with presumably little or no money, food, clothing changes, etc. You know the cops have dissected all phone records, emails and other communications of all of their family members. They may have changed their appearance and now be less "underground" than you might think.

10 days...so we know they've at least gotten some drinking water. They probably entered some poor schlub's house, killed him/her, and are waiting for the dust to settle...for weeks/months if they must.

Possibly, but for this to fly they would have needed to select the "perfect" victim. Most folks are recognized as missing within a few days. Could also be holed up in some vacant cabin or hunting lodge.

Just waterboard the lady that worked at the prison and end this.

This gets stranger by the day. Now we learn that the female guard was sleeping with at least one of the convicts, and that she was part of a plot to murder her own husband. She seems like a certifiable whacko. Not really surprising.....not many normal women want to work in a maximum security prison.

Seems like the convicts correctly identified her as a weak link, and then used her for what they needed.

Update: DNA from one of the escapees found at a hunting lodge in upstate NY. They broke into the joint and at least one of the guys were seen running from the place. Officials haven't said what was taken or released any other details.

ONE of the guys. Don't know how old the DNA is. We don't even know if the authorities aren't false flagging this for lack of a better term to try and flush out one or more of the guys into making a real mistake.
I swear I will be SMH if these two are still together when they're caught - and they will be caught. Especially if they are still together and are seen together. One thing I think people have been lulled into is thinking that they are looking for two people and if just one walks by them on the street they won't truly give a second thought. It's been planted in their brain that it's a two-fer or nothing.
They are not saying what is missing from the cabin if indeed it was one of them. Is it clothing? Did they just open canned goods and eat, go to the bathroom and then split? Did they shave their heads? Take a spare pair of reading glasses? Hat to pull low over their head? Change shoes which would leave a different scent for tracking dogs? At any rate, they are holding back on something.

CNN reporting one of the escapees has been shot and they are chasing the second guy.

Pretty predictable ending. I suspect the prison will be happy when the second one is dead so that the incredible security lapses there are never fully known.

Richard Matt has been shot & killed. This is the prisoner that was having the relationship with Joyce Mitchell. Wonder how she'll take the news when hearing his fate.

Hope they catch the last guy so we have all of the details on how they broke out.

This is exactly why the second thug -- Sweat -- is very likely to die. The security lapses in that prison are shocking. We now hear the crazy witch had sex with Sweat in excess of 100 times. Rest assured that "corrections" wants all of this suppressed.

This thing is getting WAY too much media attention.
In the same week as what happened in Charleston, this gets top billing on the news. As though we don't have more pressing issues to talk about.

Looking forward to skipping the inevitable movie about this.

We endured DAYS AND DAYS of Charleston coverage. What more can be said about that horrible event? (Thank goodness Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton never showed up). Today's fugitive killing is brand new, so it will obviously capture more attention (for now) than something that happened last week.

Every time I've gotten in the elevator at home or work for the last 3 days, CNN has been covering this 'manhunt', they seemed pretty happy to let go of the Charleston terror attack story. I get that the manhunt makes for fascinating, movie-like TV, but is it really news that rises to a national level? Like there's a lot going on in the world, are these two douches really the biggest thing going on?

I suppose that's more a statement about editorial selections made by the media more than anything.

agree. The news of 37 dead and mainly european tourists gunned down on a beach in Tunisia while another terrorist attacked a gas plant in France should be getting more play as well.

But but but that's over there. We only care about us. You haven't been paying attention

Not sure how this is being overblown, it's a pretty big story. And yeah, national news almost always takes precedent over international just like local would take precedence over national.

How much you guess this exercise is costing? Gotta be millions. Great job, NYCorrections!!

Escapee David Sweat shot, in custody
Malone, New York (CNN)Escaped murderer David Sweat has been shot and is in custody, multiple law enforcement sources briefed on the investigation told CNN on Sunday.

He was shot twice in a field by a New York state trooper, a law enforcement source said. Sweat was taken into custody in upstate New York, close to the Canadian border.

He was transported to the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, an officer at the hospital told CNN. His condition was not immediately clear.

No law enforcement officers were injured during his apprehension.

Still very concerned that two low-level thugs with few or no resources could evade law enforcement for 23 days. Gotta think Isis and Al Quaeda are far more formidable foes.

Really hope they can keep the guy alive and get him to spill the details on how everything took place.

Not sure if serious.

If the US dedicated a even fraction of the resources it puts into going after isis and aq into improving our prison system or tracking white supremacist terrorists, the last two big stories (terror attack in charleston and these two jailbird douchebags) would likely never have happened.

Seems like we should have the technology to micro-chip people with tracking chips. If anyone thinks it's "cruel or unusual" or violates their rights, sorry! Don't murder or rape anybody, and it won't happen to you!

Airlines are losing $100 million dollar aircraft and still don't to spend the money to track them, what makes you think our gov't is going to spend the money to track prisoners?

You think this three week search was free??

Not to mention, they were lucky that the escapees did not hurt or kill someone while they were on the loose.

I do not understand why they were allowed to have the privileges they were given in the first place. I think that is good for non-violent prisoners, but for these guys, no way.

Did I say it was?

The cost of this search, and one like it every three or four years pales in comparison to what it would cost to implement any sort of tracking program, not to mention the legal fight you'd have to go though + the fact that people would gruesomely separate themselves from the chip upon escape.

It would be a fruitless waste of money.

Our prisons should spend that money (if they even have it, which they don't) on rehabilitating prisoners rather than subjecting them to torture-like conditions that inflict mental abuse and often result in a released prisoner coming out more violent than when they were incarcerated.

All they'd have to do is implant a little capsule next to the jugular, like what they did to Snake Plissken. Have some type of signal that keeps it from going off as long as they are inside the prison walls, but activates if you leave & blows up in 48 hours.

Gives new meaning to 'blue screen of death'...

Seems reasonable.
Write your Congressperson, I'm sure if the capsule manufacturer is lobbying them enough, it'll become a reality.

Scumbag Scumbag and Vermin would like to represent you if your loved ones capsule blew up accidentally
