FSU sports information:

The 12th-ranked Florida State Women’s Basketball team battles rival Florida for the 85th time on Friday night, facing the Gators (3-0) on the road at 4 p.m. at Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center on SEC Network+.

Fans with a subscription to the SEC Network can automatically access SEC Network+ on the ESPN App by logging in with their cable, internet or streaming provider.

The Seminoles have won nine of the last 11 matchups dating back to 2012, including last year’s 92-77 win in Tallahassee on Nov. 16, 2022. Friday’s rivalry game tips off an eight-day stretch of Seminoles vs. Gators in women’s basketball, men’s basketball and football.

Following the FSU women’s game, the men’s programs face off on the hardwood on Friday at 7 p.m. in Gainesville. The football game between the two storied programs happens on Saturday, Nov. 25, at 7 p.m. at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

The Seminoles are looking for consecutive wins over SEC programs after knocking off No. 11 Tennessee in a 92-91 thriller at the Tucker Center on Nov. 9. FSU climbed six spots in the AP Poll, making it the fourth-highest mover of the week while giving the Seminoles their highest AP rank since being 11th on Jan. 6, 2020.

Florida State’s fast offense has done an exceptional job at keeping its turnover margin low through two games. The Seminoles rank first in the ACC and eighth nationally with a +14.0 turnover margin per game. FSU has totaled 157 possessions through two games and has just 20 total turnovers to 31 assists.

Florida State alumna and coach Brooke Wyckoff makes her 18th appearance against Florida either as a head coach (third time), an assistant/associate head coach (10 times) or as a student-athlete (five times). In her interim head coaching debut on Dec. 1, 2020, FSU defeated Florida in Tallahassee 81-75.

Junior guard O’Mariah Gordon is showing an impressive 11 assists to just one turnover while leading FSU averaging 21.5 points. The Sunshine State tandem of Gordon (Bradenton) and Ta’Niya Latson (Miami) won Florida Dairy Farmers Miss Basketball in 2021 and 2022, respectively.

Florida leads the all-time series against the Seminoles 45-39. After carrying a 16-game losing streak to UF from 1993-2003, FSU owns a 15-5 record against the Gators from 2004 to the present.

The Gators are off to a 3-0 start with wins over UNF (82-65), Bethune-Cookman (83-69) and Florida A&M (92-54). Senior guard Aliyah Matharu, a transfer from Texas and Mississippi State, leads UF averaging 20.7 points per game.

Following Friday’s game, FSU returns home for a Sunday matchup vs. South Alabama at 2 p.m. It will be FSU’s Seminole Heritage Game, with fans encouraged to wear turquoise to The Tuck.

Really have to question the why on starting this game at 4 in Gainesville. A wide view shows not much of a crowd. Guess you can hope some of the men's crowd might arrive early but tough to bank on that.

FSU is just 7 of 18 early

Yet the Seminoles have a 23-19 lead, under 1 minute to go 1Q

UF having a block party.

Team playing well and maintaining the lead with Latson getting a breather

Latson with some questionable selections on offense.
Too many wild drives that didn't catch the rim for the team

FSU is 13 of 41 at the half

But I don't see FSU going 13 of 41 in the second half, although UF with six blocks seems like a very real issue

Hopefully just first road game jitters. I think they’ll have such better 2nd half.

On the bright side, we actually outrebounded them in the first half.

Brutal possession call. Should have been FSU ball. Instead it's UF's ball and the Gators drain a 3

Going to be a game decided at the line the rest of the way
