Shooting on Campus at FSU

Good Lord! How do we stop this? Fingers crossed no one got killed

Roster Management - Needs in the portal

QB
1 - Tommy Castellanos (SR)
2 - Brock Glenn (SO)
3 - Kevin Sperry (FR)

Comments: FSU is not going to sign another QB this year. The QB position is set. They signed a prospect out of Georgia who will take Trevor Jackson spot. (Prediction - O Transfer Portal Addition)

RB
4 - Kam Davis (SO)
5 - Jaylin Lucas (SR)
6 - Roydell Williams (SR)
7 - Caziah Holmes (SR)
8 - Sam Singleton (SO)
9 - Ousmane Kromah (FR)

Comments: I could see Danzy ending up back at RB at some point. I doubt FSU tries and picks up anyone out of the portal. Kromah is going to get a legit shot at winning the job. I still think Kam Davis can do well in this offense. He is a ground and pound type back. I think he can help in short yardage and near the end-zone. I still have faith that Davis will do something at FSU. Lucas needs to be this teams version of Chris Thompson. Holmes and Williams are not the answer. If these guys get major snaps, FSU run game will not be good. Singleton is caught in the numbers. I do think he can be a productive back just not sure it happens at FSU. FSU run game comes down to Kromah living up to his potential. (Prediction - O Transfer Portal Addition)

WR
10 - Duce Robinson (JR)
11 - Squirrel White (SR)
12 - Camdon Frier-(FR)
13 - BJ Gibson (FR)
14 - Lawayne McCoy (FR)
15 - Elijah Moore (FR)
16 - Jayvan Boggs (FR)
17 - Teriq Mallory -(FR)
18 - Tae'Shuan Gelsey (FR)
19 - Micahi Danzy

Comments: When you look at the roster the biggest issue is you have 6 either freshman or red-shirt freshman at WR. White and Robinson are your only two upperclassmen. I talk about Roster managment all the time. This is not what you want at any position. If Bert Reed, Richard Goodman and Rod Owens can be productive FSU than Frier, Gibson, McCoy, Moore and Boggs should all be able to produce. FSU needs someone with some experience so I could see them taking a G5/FCS level receiver to come in and compete for starting minutes. (Prediciton - 1 Transfer Portal Addition)

TE

20 - Landen Thomas-SO
21 - Randy Pittman (JR)
22 - Markeston Douglas (SR)
23 - Chase Lofton (FR)

Comments: I actually like the TE room. Thomas, Pittman and Douglas give FSU three tight ends that MN can trust. The reports I heard about Lofton is that he may be one of the top players to come in this past recruiting class. That is a good thing as Lofton will have a legit shot to start or contribute in 2026. I don't see FSU going after another TE unless it is at discount rate. (Prediction - O Transfer Portal Addition)

OL

24 - Jonathan Daniels (OG/OT) (FR)
25 - Bryson Estes (OG) (SR)
26 - Tye Hylton (OG) (FR)
27 - Manasse Itete (OT) (FR)
28 - Richie Leonard (OG) (SR)
29 - Andre Otto (C/G) (SO)
30 - Jacob Rizy (C) (SR)
31 - Lucas Simmons (OT) (SO)
32 - Jayden Todd (OT) (FR)
33 - Mario Nash (OT) (FR)
34 - Chastan Brown (OT) (FR)
35 - Sean Poret (OG) (FR)
36 - Chavez Thompson (OG/C) (FR)
37 - Luke Petitbon (OG) (SR)
38 - Micah Pettus (OT) (SR)
39 - Adrian Medley (OG) (SR)
40 - Gunnar Hansen (OT) (SR)

Comments: FSU would like to have 19 scholarship lineman. Right now they are at 17. If I had to guess you will have Luke Petitbon (C), Richie Leonard (G), Adrian Medley (G), Gunnar Hansen (OT) and Pettus (OT). I feel that Otto, Rizy, Simmons will all get reps this season. FSU still needs a tackle. (Prediction - 1 Transfer Portal Addition)

Interior Lineman
41 - Jamorie Flagg (DT) (SO)
42 - Darrell Jackson (DT) (SR)
43 - Daniel Lyons (DT) (JR)
44 - KJ Sampson (DT) (SO)
45 - Kevin Wynn (DT) (FR)
46 - Mandrell Desir (DT) (FR)
47 - Tyeland Coleman (DT) (SO)
48 - Jayson Jenkins (DT) (JR)

Defensive Line/Edge
49 - James Williams (SR)
50 - Deante McCray (SR)
51 - Deamontae Diggs
52 - Darryl Desir (FR)
53 - Tylon Lee (FR)
54 - Lajesse Harrold (FR)
55 - Amare Williams (SO)
56 - Jaden Jones (SR)

Comments: FSU needs some guys up front. I like what they have in the interior. I actually think the inside of the DL will be alright. It is outside that I have concerns. Where is the pass rush going to come from. Amare Williams is very gifted but he is now learning a new position. He is probably a year away. (Prediction - 2 Transfer Portal Addition)

LB

57 - Ethan Pritchard (FR)
58 - Elijah Herring (SR)
59 - Caleb LaVallee (SO)
60 - Stefon Thompson (SR)
61 - Justin Cryer (JR)
62 - Omar Graham (JR)
63 - Blake Nichelson-(JR)
64 - Shawn Murphy (JR)
65 - Jayden Parrish (FR)
66 - Timir Hickman Collins (FR)

Comments: With the scheme that FSU runs now, I could see them wanting to add one more backer. I do think they have some capable bodies at linebacker. It will be interesting to see how these guys play in the new scheme. Can they add an upgrade here? If so look for FSU to bring in one more portal backer (Prediciton-1 Transfer Portal Addition)

DB
67 - Ashlynd Barker (JR)
68 - Cai Bates (FR)
69 - Shyheim Brown (SR)
70 - Jamari Howard (FR)
71 - Conrad Hussey (JR)
72 - Quindarrius Jones (JR)
73 - Edwin Joseph (SO)
74 - KJ Kirland (FR)
75 - Ricky Knight (FR)
76 - Charles Lester (FR)
77 - Earl Little (JR)
78 - Jabril Rawls (FR)
79 - Antonio Cromartie (FR)
80 - Gregory Thomas (FR)
81 - Max Redmon (FR)
82 - Shamar Arnoux (FR)

Comments: The scheme FSU runs now they need lots of guys in the back end of the defense. FSU has talent in the secondary. They will probably add a couple of more guys through the portal. Look for them to bring in some safeties. They have plenty of corners. (Prediction-2-3 Transfer Portal Addition)

K/P
83 - Brunno Reus (FR)
84 - Jake Weinberg (FR)
85 - Mac Chiumento

Football Mike Norvell reflects on addition of developmental QB Jaylen King

"I’m excited to add Jaylen into our program and our quarterback room,” FSU coach Mike Norvell said in a statement. “He has great size, ability and potential that we look forward to seeing develop in the years ahead. Having played his first two years in college, he has the opportunity to compete and grow in a talented room with the possibility to redshirt as he continues to develop."

Baseball Poor start, finish hand No. 4 FSU a lopsided loss in rubber match at No. 19 Louisville

Allowing five runs in the first and seven in the seventh, No. 4 FSU baseball was handed a lopsided 14-2 loss at No. 19 Louisville in Sunday's rubber match.

The Noles are 31-9 (12-6 in ACC) entering next weekend's huge series at home vs. Clemson.

5 Star Rankings

I think one of the biggest mistakes we as fans or those who cover recruiting make when it comes to recruiting is the value put on a five star. These are supposed to be the very best of the best prosects, no brainer, can't miss type players. Where you see mistakes being made with 5-star rankings is the criteria to give these guys that lofty ranking differs based on each network. Most of the networks have a set number of 5 stars they give out each year. What happens when you have 20 great players nationally one year and the next there may only be 15. Should that number be 20 every year even if the talent level is down from one year to the next.

When it comes to the NFL Draft there is a set number of guys each year who are considered ELITE or can't miss prospects. Usually there are 12-13 in any given year. This year the scouts are saying there maybe only 5-6. That once you get out of the top 10 this year that number 11-50 there may not be that much of a difference.

The reason I bring this up is Hykeem Williams. His composite ranking was a five star. Was he really a TRUE 5* prospect? I rank differently. I have a (10) ranking. I think in the past decade in the state of Florida there have been maybe 10 total. Dalvin, Jeremiah Smith, Patrick Peterson, Pat Surtain Jr. There have been very few. I have never given a 10 ranking to a QB in the state of Florida. Never given a 10 ranking to a tight end. Never given a 10 ranking to a DT or DE or a LB. You can count on two hands all the true difference makers. My rankings are 10 (these are the very best nationally - Generation type talents). I have DJ Pickett this ranking last year as he was the best DB, I saw since Surtain. I have not missed on these guys over the years. Why, because they are so elite and the flaws they do have are almost non-existent. Trust me you dig deep enough there is some flaw in almost any prospect. My scouts have not given out many (10 -Rankings) Caleb Williams, Devonta Smith were probably some of the only ones with these type of rankings.

I bring this up because here we come to Hykeem Williams. He was a composite five star prospect. The problem is Hykeem was raw. Size (Check), Speed (Check)...I spoke to someone last year who left FSU and asked him about Hykeem. He said Fish he has two things that hold him back. He does not adjust well to the football and his timing is not good. He is a little stiff and this is a weakness. He is talented but lets be real is Hykeem in the same boat as Jeremiah Smith coming out (No), Sammy Watkins (No). I am not sure he is a top ten receiver in Florida the past ten years. I remember watching AJ Green in HS. I sat with Jimbo at the state finals that year and said to him...AJ Green is the real deal coach. He said Fish there is a kid in Alabama better...It was Julio Jones. Well, I had the chance to watch Julio the following Summer at Seminole Showcase against Antonio Cromartie who was in the NFL. Julio made him look silly.

So my point is....FIVE STARS...Should the networks really have a 6th star? Have those guys who are just different (Clowney, Jeremiah Smith, Pat Surtain Jr) and then have that next level recruit Hykeem who has some of those elite traits but there is room for them to really be great or just ok? Fans get upset when a five star kid does not make it. Hykeem is one of those guys but the reality is he may not really be in that elite group.

Golf PGSF FedEx Cup Week 18 The THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson

scheffler-itf.jpg

After the PGA TOUR teamed up last week for the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, it heads back to Texas for THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch – which underwent a hearty renovation led by 21-time PGA TOUR winner Lanny Wadkins after last year’s tournament.
This is the final event for those looking to qualify for the next Signature Event on the calendar, the Truist Championship, via the Aon Swing 5 and Aon Next 10.
The field is highlighted by world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who returns to THE CJ CUP after not playing last year – and who is looking to find the winner’s circle for the first time in 2025.

Here’s everything else you need to know as the TOUR returns to the Dallas metroplex.
FIELD NOTES: Scottie Scheffler is making his first appearance at THE CJ CUP since 2023 and sixth in his TOUR career. Scheffler has five top 10s already this season, including three in a row and a fourth at the Masters in his title defense. The last time Scheffler teed it up at TPC Craig Ranch, he finished T5 after opening with rounds of 64-64. … Fellow Texan Jordan Spieth is back in action at TPC Craig Ranch after missing the cut last year. Spieth has had some solid results at this course before, however, finishing T9 in 2021 and then runner-up the next year to K.H. Lee, falling short by just one stroke. Spieth has two top 10s so far this year. … Rounding out the notable Texas trio is Will Zalatoris, who has had a steady if unspectacular 2025 campaign. Zalatoris has missed just one cut so far in 2025 in nine tournaments but has yet to record a top-10 finish. … Taylor Pendrith returns to defend his title at THE CJ CUP, looking to become the first golfer since K.H. Lee to go back-to-back. Lee was the first golfer to successfully defend his title at this tournament since Tom Watson, who won three in a row from 1978-1980. Pendrith used his victory last year to springboard himself to the TOUR Championship for the first time, along with earning a spot on the Presidents Cup team. … Sungjae Im comes into THE CJ CUP off back-to-back impressive results at some big-time events. Im, the other top-20 ranked golfer in the world this week alongside Scheffler, finished T5 at the Masters and T11 at the RBC Heritage. … Christo Lamprecht earned his way into the field after being named the 2024 Byron Nelson Award recipient as a graduating senior at Georgia Tech. Lamprecht has two top-five finishes so far this year on the Korn Ferry Tour, including a T2 at the Astara Golf Championship presented by Mastercard. This will be his first start on TOUR in 2025.

SPONSOR EXEMPTIONS: Noah Kent is set to make his third start on the PGA TOUR this season after also teeing it up at the Texas Children’s Houston Open and the Masters. Kent, a sophomore at Florida, earned his Masters invite via finishing runner-up at the U.S. Amateur last summer. He missed the cut at Augusta National and in Houston. … Seventeen-year-old Kris Kim of England will tee it up on TOUR for the second time after making his debut at this event last year. He is the son of former LPGA Tour player Ji-Hyun Suh and went unbeaten in four matches at the Junior Ryder Cup in Rome in 2023. At just 16, Kim made the cut last year. … Tommy Morrison will make his non-major PGA TOUR debut after finishing T60 at The Open Championship last year. Morrison, a Dallas native, is a junior at the University of Texas. He was third on the team in scoring average last season as a sophomore. … Seungbin Choi is making his PGA TOUR debut after a very solid KPGA Tour career, including winning the KPGA Championship in 2023. Choi told Korean media: “I’ve dreamed of playing on the PGA TOUR since I was young, and I’m excited to compete on a bigger stage through THE CJ CUP.” … University of Texas alum Pierceson Coody along with TOUR winners Chesson Hadley, Martin Laird, Zach Johnson, Chez Revie and Kevin Tway round out the sponsor invites.
SIGNATURE EVENT STORYLINES: THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson is the final event before the Truist Championship. … Andrew Novak, after his win at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, leads the Aon Next 10. … Min Woo Lee holds onto the No. 10 spot by a mere four points over Harris English. … With his win at Corales, Garrick Higgo continues to top the Aon Swing 5. … On the back of his T4 alongside Karl Vilips at the Zurich Classic, Michael Thorbjornsen sits second in the standings while the Højgaard twins, Rasmus and Nicolai (after finishing runner-up at TPC Louisiana), are tied for third with 162.5 points. … Keith Mitchell (who finished T18 with J.T. Poston in New Orleans) sits on the No. 5 spot, just five points ahead of Frankie Capan III and Jake Knapp. All three are in the field at TPC Craig Ranch.
COMCAST BUSINESS TOUR TOP 10 UPDATES: With his maiden PGA TOUR victory (alongside Ben Griffin), Andrew Novak jumped from No. 15 to No. 6 in the standings, bumping J.J. Spaun to No. 11. … The rest of the TOUR TOP 10 remained the same last week, with Rory McIlroy continuing to grow his lead over No. 2 Justin Thomas thanks to his T12 in his title defense (alongside Shane Lowry) in New Orleans.
FEDEXCUP: Winner receives 500 FedExCup points.
COURSE: TPC Craig Ranch, par 71, 7,569 yards. The club underwent a massive renovation after last year’s tournament, led by 21-time PGA TOUR winner Lanny Wadkins and his design firm. The changes have completely overhauled the course, incorporating new turf varieties on both the fairways and greens, while also replacing a 20-plus-year-old irrigation system.
The par-5 fifth has been lengthened to now play over 630 yards, while the par-4 eighth will play longer than 500 yards. Twenty yards have been added to the par-4 10th, 10 yards have been added to No. 11, and 30 yards have been added to No. 14.
72-HOLE RECORD: 259, Steven Bowditch (2015 at TPC Four Seasons). Bowditch was 18-under after heavy rain turned TPC Four Seasons into a par-69 layout for the final three rounds.
  • TPC Craig Ranch record: 261, Jason Day (2023), Taylor Pendrith (2024)
18-HOLE RECORD: 60, Arron Oberholser (second round, 2006 at Cottonwood Valley GC), Keegan Bradley (first round, 2013 at TPC Four Seasons), Sebastián Muñoz (first round, 2022 at TPC Craig Ranch), S.Y. Noh (first round, 2023 at TPC Craig Ranch)
LAST TIME: Taylor Pendrith won for the first time on the PGA TOUR thanks to a steady final day at TPC Craig Ranch and an ill-timed bogey from Ben Kohles. Kohles, who had made birdies on Nos. 16 and 17 Sunday, had 5 feet for a closing par on the par-5 18th – after hitting a poor chip with his third shot – and missed it by just inches. Pendrith was 41 feet away for eagle and cozied it up to just a couple feet (“the straightest putt” he’d had all season, Pendrith’s caddie would tell him), and he calmly rolled it in for a one-shot victory. The Canadian got himself into contention with a Saturday 63 and held the 54-hole lead. He shot a 4-under 67 in the finale. Kohles was second alone, with Alex Noren in third.

Golf PGSF FedEx Cup Week 15 The Masters

m_24JM1_9213.jpg

Written by Adam Stanley
The season’s first major has arrived, with reigning FedExCup champion Scottie Scheffler seeking his third Masters title in four years at iconic Augusta National Golf Club.
Scheffler is joined on the short list of pre-tournament favorites by Rory McIlroy, who has done mostly everything in professional golf aside from completing the career Grand Slam, with the Masters representing the only major title that eludes him. McIlroy is a two-time TOUR winner this season and arrives at Augusta National in good form, as does Scheffler after a strong finish to the Texas Children’s Houston Open two weeks ago.
Xander Schauffele seeks his third win in the last four major championships, and an esteemed crop of players hungry for a first major includes Ludvig Åberg, Viktor Hovland and Georgia native Russell Henley. This week also marks the 10-year anniversary of Jordan Spieth’s 2015 Masters title as a 21-year-old wunderkind; Spieth has flashed at times this spring after rehabbing a wrist injury for five months late last year.

As players get ready to traverse the historic grounds of Augusta National, here’s everything you need to know for the 89th edition of the Masters Tournament.
FIELD NOTES: Scottie Scheffler returns to Augusta National having won the green jacket in two of his last three attempts. Scheffler, who won by four shots in 2024, looks to become the first player to successfully defend his title at the Masters since Tiger Woods in 2001-02. Scheffler had a delayed start to his 2025 campaign after a Christmastime hand injury, but while he hasn’t found the winner’s circle yet, he has notched three top-10 finishes so far in 2025, including a T2 in his last start at the Texas Children’s Houston Open … Rory McIlroy arrives at Augusta National in search of the career Grand Slam, again. This year, however, McIlroy comes into the Masters with two TOUR wins already in 2025: the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and THE PLAYERS Championship. He also leads the TOUR in Strokes Gained: Total and Scoring Average so far this season. McIlroy has seven career top-10 finishes in the Masters, highlighted by a runner-up in 2022 … Twenty-one players will make their Masters debut in 2025, including first-time TOUR winners this year Joe Highsmith, Brian Campbell and Thomas Detry Ludvig Åberg returns to Augusta National with another full year of experience on golf’s biggest stage under his belt and a win at The Genesis Invitational (a Signature Event) to boot. Åberg made his Masters debut last year and finished second, the best result by a debutant since Fuzzy Zoeller won the green jacket in 1979 … Collin Morikawa is hoping to continue his fine play at Augusta National as he has notched three straight top-10 finishes at the Masters (Scheffler is the only other to do it). Morikawa is first in Strokes Gained: Approach the Green this season and second to McIlroy in Strokes Gained: Total. He has two runner-up finishes so far this season and notched a T10 at THE PLAYERS … This year marks the 10th anniversary of Jordan Spieth’s coming-of-age Masters victory in 2015. He returns to Augusta National this year with some form, but it’s been a bit feast-or-famine for Spieth at the Masters having gone T3-MC-T4-MC in his last four starts … Xander Schauffele, the winner of two of the last three major championships, is looking to get back to form after suffering a rib injury earlier in 2025. Schauffele comes into the Masters after his best finish of the season, a T12 at the Valspar Championship where he led the field in Strokes Gained: Approach the Green.

Kent is a sophomore at the University of Florida, having transferred from Iowa after one season … Hiroshi Tai will make his tournament debut, becoming the first player from Singapore to compete in the Masters. Tai won the 2024 NCAA Division I Men's Individual Championship for Georgia Tech by one stroke over six players … Evan Beck, the 2024 U.S. Mid-Amateur champion, will make his Masters debut. COMCAST BUSINESS TOUR TOP 10 UPDATES: All of the players inside the TOUR TOP 10 last week remained as such this week, with one minor swap – Corey Conners, after his T18 at the Valero Texas Open, now sits No. 6 in the standings, switching spots with Åberg McIlroy still leads the way by more than 300 points over No. 2 Sepp Straka … Hideki Matsuyama, at No. 8, remains the only player to be inside the TOUR TOP 10 every week this season.
FEDEXCUP: Winner receives 750 FedExCup points.
COURSE: Augusta National Golf Club, par 72, 7,555 yards. While there were no yardage or other overarching changes for 2025, the golf course went through some recovery efforts after Hurricane Helene last year. McIlroy, at Texas Children’s, said there were four greens that had been redone (he did not specify which ones) and said the “loss of a few trees” was definitely “noticeable.” At the 2025 Latin America Amateur Championship, Augusta National Chairman Fred Ridley confirmed the course lost some trees but will otherwise be its usual stern test for the world’s best players.
“I think we had minor damage to the course, the playing surfaces themselves, but we were able to get that back in shape, but I don't think you're going to see any difference in the condition for the Masters this year,” Ridley said.
Hurricane Helene caused an estimated $78.7 billion in damage throughout the southeastern United States when it hit in late September last year.
72-HOLE RECORD: 268, Dustin Johnson (2020)
18-HOLE RECORD: 63, Nick Price (Round 3, 1986), Greg Norman (Round 1, 1996)
LAST TIME: Scheffler captured his second green jacket, winning for the third time in 2024 en route to four more titles and a PGA TOUR Player of the Year campaign. Scheffler finished at 11-under 277, topping Åberg – who was making his first start at a major championship – by four shots. There was a four-way co-lead late on the front nine before Scheffler made six birdies in a 10-hole stretch around the turn to win his second Masters in a runaway. Max Homa, Morikawa and Tommy Fleetwood finished tied for third, seven shots back of Scheffler. It was Scheffler’s second Masters title in three years.
