Last August, Garret Dillahunt — who was so good in Deadwood that he played two roles — began circulating a rumor that HBO might be bringing Deadwood back for an HBO movie. We took that rumor with a grain of salt; after all, Dillahunt also teased us into thinking he might be cast as Negan on The Walking Dead. We never want to trust Internet rumors because, as Al Swearengen once opined himself, “Get all the trust beat out of you. And you know what the f*ckin’ world is.”
It turns out, however, that what Dillahunt was sniffing was not bullsh*t.
“Welcome to f*cking Deadwood!”
Yesterday, we received confirmation of this Deadwood movie from a very reliable source: Michael Lombardo, the president of network programming at HBO.
“It’s going to happen,” he said.
This would be so awesome if true.
