“Traditional” powers struggling with NIL

Interesting to see Bama begging for NIL funds from its fans. Apparently as good a base as it has, they believe they will struggle paying against teams in Texas and with other power traditions and a ton of donor money they can tap and make mean a lot fast.

This is getting interesting. I’m not sure how long FSU will be able to keep up. That’s true for many schools, too. This isn’t an FSU thing.

The unlimited nature of pay for play/nil if the settlement doesn’t control moving forward is going to create a potential super class of schools with so much money they can stack the top players. If ten of them can afford the top 30 or more, it will hurt a lot. What’s working to parity now won’t work to parity once the lack of guardrails allow the richest to figure things out.

Remember we were top of portal world just two years ago. It changed fast.
