2014 Olympic Hockey

Still over 15 minutes left and Canada's playing like a bunch of angry hornets now. U.S. will have to hold on for dear life.

This is just as physical a game as the men's

U.S. getting some great chances on the counter-attack. A 3rd goal would provide peace of mind.

Going to OT...We had several chances to get that magic 3rd goal and couldn't convert. Canada has all the momentum heading into extra time.

Gotta be attacking, they play better when attacking instead of protecting a lead

I'm not completely familiar with the rules here for OT...How long is the period? The full 20??

Never mind...They just answered it. OT is 20 min.

Wow...4 on 4 for OT. I don't think this will make it to a shootout.

Going to have to decapitate someone to get a penalty apparently.

U.S. gets break...Canada should have gotten a penalty shot....But they are on PP.

U.S. loses. Canada's women's hockey team is like a limp dick....They just can't be beat.

You can't possibly be serious.
You do know this is olympic hockey, not the NHL?

Why does the US dollar support a sport so obviously dominated by Canada?

Canadians take down the US in both Men's and women's hockey.

I've spent more time coaching women players than this whole board combined has spent watching them play. They work hard but it's not remotely close. You don't have to take my word for it - open-mindedness doesn't seem like strength for you. Team USA played a mid-level boys prep team and won 2-1 in OT...full refs, female rules, everything. It' anywhere on the same continent as "just as physical."

? Us dollar? I don't know if you know how it works but the USOC has very little cash and almost no tax dollars go to our USOC programs. I know because I used to work with several of the hockey program coaches and development model. It's private sponsorship and that's up to the people/companies.

The USa played pretty well but their youth showed. I didn't have a great vibe on this year's team but they will be a force in 2018. They need to develop more patience and get one more mobile defenseman.

If you add in Carey Price Canada's PK and team D is among the best I've ever seen in any 1 game. Very few teams of all time would have hung 2 goals on them today. They played very very well. Hats off to the Leafs.

I have no idea why you'd throw in the towel when a young team just played one of the 2 top teams in the world to a 1-0 score.

2 US medals since the miracle on ice. The US is an also ran in this sport, so it seems strange to me that the NHL is not housed elsewhere.

The team is young and showed immaturity. I was particularly disappointed with Kane and Brown - two leaders who played poorly for almost the entire tournament. Especially Patrick Kane.

I disagree the trend for USA hockey is in the wrong or stagnant direction. The US has won world juniors (top under 20 nation) twice in recent years. They are firmly in the top 4 hockey countries without qualification. That is a far cry from where we were in the 1990's or mid-2000's.

Although this year's team failed at the end, compare that to the veteran group (Hull, Chelios, Modano, etc.) who played poorly in 1998 at Nagano and trashed hotel rooms, threw tantrums, and embarrassed themselves.

People are also not factoring in the fact that good US performance on Olympic-sized sheets are nowhere to be found except 1980. That may be a problem with the development model but the US NTDP and college system are better than ever; far far stronger and deeper than even 10 years ago.

This will never be a top sport in the US but it continues to make progress.

Congrats to Canada - that was 120 minutes of the best defense I think I've ever seen in my lifetime.

How about in 2002 when U.S. won silver on Olympic size rink (despite being played in Salt Lake City).
