2015 Ford F-150

A friend of mine bought a 4x4 Platinum Eco-Boost 2015 F150. I rode in it and it's very nice. It's loaded and even has massaging front seats. He said the Eco-Boost has a lot more pick-up than the V-8.

Am looking at one too but I can't justify the few thousand more I'm seeing higher than a '15 Ram Big Horn.

Nice looking pickup.

Here's a pretty thorough review of your buddy's $60k truck:

This is the Locker Room! 60k ain't nothin to us high Rollers.

Have you driven the Dodge? They have a different transmission and feel than some vehicles

I looked at them this past weekend... I think I'm going with the 250 diesel.

Extremely nice truck (the aluminum version that is) and have every bell and whistle imaginable.

They are not dealing on the price AT ALL, and you can expect to pay close to sticker price on them.

2015 F150's are nice, I am assuming this would be the aluminum frame version?

Jam - Saw your post about the RV. If you are still thinking of a travel Trailer, I would highly recommend you get a F250. I just bought a 2015 F250 Lariat diesel to pull my TT. This truck is a beast, you won't even know your trailer is back there. It also has all the bells and whistles like a luxury car.

Yes, the 2015 F-150 is aluminum frame, about 700 pounds lighter than prior models.

Someone above said Ford is not at all price-flexible on the 2015 model, and I think that's right. Meanwhile, they are literally begging people to take the 2014s, which became extremely difficult to sell in the face of all of the hoopla over the new model.

I recently looked at the F150 and the Chevy Silverado, I just couldn't believe how expensive they were. You can buy a nice Porsche for what they want for these things.

I don't NEED a truck, but would like to have one. The main problem is my company pays me on mileage, so I have this paid for diesel VW that is paid for and get's 40+ MPG, which makes me a tax free $2k a month, minus about $150 in gas.

I guess I'm just too cheap, and I'm following the guys advice from the investment thread, I'm going to drive my car to the moon. = at least 225,000 miles.

There must be some sort of glitch in the system, I've seen a lot of double posts lately.

I really, really want a new truck too, and can afford one, but won't buy one for that very reason. Whent he one I have dies I'll consider a slightly used one...

I just grabbed a 2013 for a great deal. I think the 2015 is awesome and I'll probably upgrade in a few years, but it wasn't worth the 20k+ difference for similar trucks at this point.

Not to mention Fords from I think 2010-2014 are fugly.

I Like mine, since this picture was taken I also blacked out the front emblem

They have about the whole fleet of F-150's at the Houston rodeo. Really nice, but very expensive. It seemed to me very little comes standard on Fords.

I know a lot of people have them and I liked Ford's prior and now but that area of design is awful to me. The grille is all messed up and I don't like the clear tail lights and what seems to be horizontal lines on the tailgate. Must be in the minority as I see a bunch of of them but am happy with the redesign.

I haven't driven either. Just going off looks and price as of now. Will be test driving in the summer.

The tailgate thing you are referring to is only on the platinum edition, which I agree is very ugly. I also don't love the stock grill and will probably do an aftermarket black mesh soon. I also like the redesign, but I would've had to spend 50k to get a 2015 how I want it. I got this for less than 30k and it's fully loaded with all the options I wanted... Only 20k miles.

Most people use Plasti-Dip.

Chew these facts:

The Ram EcoDiesel is EPA-rated at 19 mpg city,
27 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined. In our Real MPG testing, it
performed better than advertised, returning 20 mpg city, 28 mpg highway,
and 23 mpg combined. Moreover, in our payload fuel economy test, it
returned an observed 23 mpg. The Ram's combined Real MPG is 21 percent
better than the F-150's.

So it might be lighter and might have a smaller engine, but the dodge Eco-Diesel is still much more efficient.

Jeep is trying to debate the fuel efficiency of full size trucks? Go drive a Prius. Dodge makes a notoriously crappy product with guaranteed transmission problems around 100k. I would literally drive any other full size truck before Dodge.

What do you think of the new Titan diesels coming out soon. I have a 10 year old Titan that pulls like a mule and never one issue with it. Bought it in January of 2005, I can't believe they still haven't changed body styles
Posted from Rivals Mobile

is there any advantage of the aluminum frame besides fuel efficiency?

is it really a $20K premium for the aluminum frame?

I know the diesels generally get better gas mileage than gas but fuel is more expensive. So I wonder at what point is it cheaper to drive diesel? Is less MPG/cheaper fuel is about the same as more MPG/more expensive fuel?

That article Russ posted (3rd post) outlined the new 2015 Ford F-150 pretty well.

"What about the aluminum," you ask? "Does you feel 700 pounds sleeker or what?"
Acceleration and braking feel great in an empty 2015 F-150 EcoBoost. You won't forget you're driving a full-sized truck, but there aren't the constant reminders you're used to in most trucks in this class. I won't insult your intelligence by using the word "nimble" but is undoubtedly smooth.
Anyway, the main reason this truck is made of aluminum isn't fuel economy or 0 to 60 times, it's so that Ford can certify higher carrying capacities. And it worked; the weakest 2015 F-150 is payload-rated (capacity for weight in the bed) to 1,600 pounds and a Heavy Duty Payload Package plus 18" rims takes the max all the way up to 3,300 pounds. That absurd figure can only be achieved in a rear-drive single-cab long-box V8 weighing just 4,550 pounds itself, which is almost ant-like strength.

When you say "Dodge," are you limiting that comment to Dodge trucks? Or are you including everything affiliated with Dodge, which would Jeep, Ram and Chrysler? Not arguing with you, just asking for clarification.

Won't buy one. Have two friends who have them and have had issues (though covered by warranty). Also most reviews have them behind the big three.

Chrysler doesn't sell a pickup, Jeep hasn't had a pickup since the 80's, and Ram=Dodge.
