I heard from a source that FSU is beginning to expect that the launch of the ACC Network will actually lead to lower rather than increased revenue. The reason for this is because for a few years now, all ACC schools were receiving a $3 million penalty payment (per school) because ESPN didn't launch the ACCN in a timely fashion. That penalty payment now goes away, and the payout will be based on the number of subscribers along with the per-subscriber fees from the broadcasters.
But the low number of subscribers may not be enough to match the $3M penalty fee. I was wondering if the Warchant staff had heard something similar.
