All thoughts On Covid

Pfizer/Bio shot one now in as of today at 9am.....sore upper arm, nothing else....next appt set for April 6th....that will be liberating. Happy St. Patrick’s Day all....I have to break out the green FSU baseball hat and go have a couple outdoor beers tomorrow and kick my feet up....what an arduous 365 days we have experienced, these twelve plus months will be looked back in history similar to 1963, 1968, 2001, truly historic for many reasons, mostly bad. We pretty much shut down here in Broward a year ago tomorrow at around 10pm....after Miami-Dade shut down a year ago today. Longest year of my life....be well all!

Duke is now on some "campus lockdown" because of an alleged outbreak, which, of course, is being blamed on Duke fraternities conducting "unauthorized" rush parties.

LOL....when it doubt, blame the fraternities. They are basically dying anyway, and they don't qualify for any "institutional protections." Meanwhile, I see plenty of people all over the place in VERY close proximity at golf tournaments, airports, beach trips, street parties, weddings, etc....but Duke has identified "fraternity parties" as the culprit.

I am fearful to say this because I anticipate a lot of hate but I am not planning to be vaccinated. I do not see the need to be innoculated against something that is so surviviable, and I trust my immune system to do what it needs to do to produce natural antibodies. If I worked in a job where I had a lot of contact with elderly, obese or diabectic people, perhaps out of concern for them, after the vaccine has had a normal testing period, I would, but that is not the case for me.

Tell me what the normal testing period is and your concerns about mRNA. Also I’m curious about which steps you think they skipped?

No reason for anyone to hate or get in your business. Your body, your choice. I didn’t have a choice with childhood vaccines, but I’ve decided after reading that the Shingrix vaccine was well worth the potential risk as I do with the flu vaccine, so I took the Shingles two dose vaccine and I get the flu shot every year. MRNAs have been in development for years, so I weighed the risk, for me it was worth it. Be well, and don’t worry what or how others may judge you in something so personal. Best.

I do not know what mRNA is so I cannot speak to that. And; doesn't an "emergency" approval for the vaccine mean it was not tested as normal?
Anyway, ultimately none of that matters to me anyway because getting sick ocasionally is a part of life. None of us are guaranteed a pain and illness free existance, all of life is a risk.

You do you, sister! I'm not doing it either. My body, my choice, I have heard......

I can definitely understand where you're coming from, and I'm generally that way with most diseases but seeing the lung damage that Covid brings to otherwise healthy people scared me.

Hopefully you are taking measures to limit your risk, but if you get it have a plan! Please don't ignore symptoms, get tested quickly, get the antibody infusion if possible, and AVOID STEROIDS the first week to 10 days. That immune response that you are referencing needs a chance to work while the virus is growing and attacking.

Thank you for the advice. : )

Literally just got my first shot. They make you stick around 15 minutes after the shot in case you have a severe reaction. Getting an early appointment is the key. My wife went late in the afternoon and the line of cars went on forever. Not so with an early morning appointment.

Got my first shot yesterday. My kids' pediatrician office started offering them a few days ago. I registered on the site at 1110a and snagged an 1120a appointment. Filled out the bare minimum info, alerted my colleagues I was stepping away, grabbed my wallet and keys and was there right on time. Was home within a half hour including the wait to make sure no bad reaction time. Feelsgoodman.

By April 1 anyone over 16 can get the “jab” as announced this morning.

From The Governor’s Twitter..

I’m pleased to announce that beginning this Monday, March 29, all Floridians age 40 and older will be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Beginning the following Monday, April 5, all Floridians age 18 and older will be eligible.

Got my second Moderna shot yesterday afternoon. Kinda kicked my butt a little. Last night it felt like a very minor case of the flu. Arm hurts more this time and I'm lethargic as hell. Should feel better later today. Not a big deal and the second shot only took 10 minutes plus the 15 minute wait time.

Feel better, and congrats.
