Thinking of hitting Amelia Island for Easter break. How is the downtown area and surrounding beach? Looking for reviews from the FL natives!

Overall a quiet area. Pretty beaches and warm water.

Go to Amelia to relax, not for the night life. Fernandina Beach is the only town on the island, and it has a few shops and restaurants but little else.

Not much in the way of nightlife but it is a great place to relax and play golf. I used to have a connection to play Golf Club of Amelia for free. Great course. Oak Marsh at the Omni is a nice course also.

Quaint little place - if you're coming to that general area, take a jaunt up to St. Mary's GA too.

Or just go another 50 miles south to St. Augustine which has tons more going on.

Fernandina Beach & Ameila Island are very underrated.

Very peaceful place with everything you need and everything you don't isn't more than 15 minutes away. If I ever decided to exit Duval county I would go there over heading south to St. John's County.

We just had a meeting at the Omni on Amelia Island. Nice area and pretty surroundings. No much of a bar scene but peaceful.

We love it there especially the wonderful maritime forests, twisting oaks, bluffs, beaches and backbays rimmed with salt marsh. Fernandina Beach is full of history and has a lovely shopping district with non-chain restaurants and the Palace Saloon. We always go down to Fort George Island then the Kingsley Plantation and see the tabby slave quarters arranged in a traditional arc. Its private but up along the St Mary's is a totally unique place called White Oak Plantation, you have to see it to believe it. The outdoor opportunities are terrific, if you like to party hardy go somewhere else.

Amelia Island Ritz is hard to beat. Not the biggest or most opulent Ritz you will find, but it fits that property very well. Dock the yacht at Fernandina and enjoy yourself.

This. I like Amelia/Fernandina but for different reasons. I would take St Auggie over Nassau County any day of the week. Tons more to offer.

St. Augustine is great but if you want to relax, golf, beach, and avoid the tourist then Amelia Island is your spot.

Palace Saloon is definitely a place to visit for a drink. Also check out Cafe Karibo. Good food and they have a small brewpub with decent house made beer
