Anyone familiar with Andrews, NC? Heading up with the wife for a wedding. We are staying at Hawksdene and will be there Thursday through Sunday. Golf? Breweries? Anything worth a damn or should I just have someone kick me in the nuts now? Not trying to drive over to Asheville.

Hey, we have friends with homes west of Murphy, about the same distance you are from the east of Murphy. We go into town and hit Cherokee Valley Harrah’s and Valley River Brewery..it looks to be an easy 15-20 minute drive for you. Great new sports bar with a really solid beer selection in the casino. I think you can golf in Hayesville...that’s close to you. Rafting on the Nantahalla is fun too.

I just got back from Franklin/Highlands, an hour away but a few recs if you're in the area.

Frogtown had some of the best fried shrimp and hush puppies I've had. Small place, great food.
Currahee Brewing was the better of the 2 breweries there(Lazy Hiker the other). Large place on the Little Tennessee River.
Played golf at GC at Mill Creek. Short mountain course in good condition for a great price.

I’ve been to both Harrah’s in Western NC, Cherokee is larger, but smokier....I do
Ike the Cherokee Valley property....newer...yet smaller....and they did a nice addition a year or two ago.
