Is it possible that perhaps Willie is not as high on Howell as Bell was? Perhaps the Briles and Clements hire is already done but they are intentionally not going to announce it until after early signing day for recruiting purposes.
This will test if Howell trusts Willie and really wants to be a Nole under Willie regardless of who the OC is . Additionally perhaps they feel like Frey will land more OL in the early signing period and that is more of a priority than the QB. And well if Frey is let go they would lose the OL committs. Gotta think there is another QB recruit they are targetting but keeping quiet on if Howell goes elsewhere. And Willie and/or Briles may actually prefer or at least be fine with a different QB.
If Briles hire isn't announced until after early signing day, I think there has to be something related to recruiting strategy for FSU. As there would have to be at least 1 coach that won't be able to go on visits to recruits once Briles and Clements are on board.
