Atlanta snow

No snow here so far today -

I live in Cumming as well. Pretty much has snowed here all day. It was warm enough early that none of it was sticking, but that started to change after lunch. There was a brief lull of nothing, then some rain/sleet, but it's back to all snow now. Big and fat snow. If the temps had been below freezing at the start of the day, we'd have been looking at a very large snowfall amount.

It continued to snow all day and I measured 7 inches both at work as later at the house. The highway home was just wet with no problems and kudos to the road crews for doing a great job. Off the big road, it was a little challenging as the plows had not hit our area yet.
It is supposed to continue snowing on thru noon tomorrow and this could really jump start the local ski areas, but the ground was not frozen before this storm hit. Therefore, the snow will melt from below even as the snow insulates the ground from the coming sub freezing temps we are supposed to get.
Yay, winter finally gets here, even if just for a few days.

In Dacula, NE of Atlanta, we got about 3"; roads are a little slick when they have sharp turns, but otherwise not too bad. Just drive slow, and avoid the yahoos who say, "Hold my beer" or "Watch this!"

My son was supposed to fly out of Panama City to Detroit with a connector in Atlanta tomorrow but his flight has been cancelled. Is the Hartsfield shut down?

Ended up with about 4” in Brookhaven. Roads are mostly fine, side streets are still slushy.

My neighbor drove to the airport this morning and back; said side roads still slushy by drivable. 85 a good ride with hardly any traffic. I'd think planes shouldn't have any problems unless they're delayed for salting the runways first.

My son's flight has been changed now so it's not an issue now.

We have 8.5 inches at the house. Cashiers, NC is reporting 18 inches. Still flurrying with reports saying the system moves out around noon. Heading out with the shovel to hit the porch.

Thunderstorm here in Marietta, NW of ATL about 6" snow depth with up to 8 in Powder Springs west of ATL

Yeah, I measured 7 inches at my house about 4 miles west of the City of Marietta. Power went out around 4:30am, came back on 12 hours later. The gas fireplace kept us warm enough.

Edit: I've lived in the Atlanta area for 28 years and this is the most snow I've seen except for maybe the blizzard of 1993. Seen a lot of 3 or 4 inch amounts, but don't remember amounts up to 8" some have reported. My wife's cousin in Ellijay (about 80 mile N. of Atlanta) had 10" on her deck this morning.

So I was to fly out of Huntsville to Atlanta Friday afternoon then night as things got pushed back. Finally shortly before boarding, they shut it all down. My flight into Toronto was to arrive at 9pm. They rescheduled it to arrive at 3am then cancelled everything. I'm now rescheduled to try it all over again tonight.

My wife and daughter are driving from Kentucky to Atlanta today and flying back to Jacksonville tomorrow. I'm hoping they don't get stuck.
They did wind up getting stuck and I met them in Locust Grove (they ubered there from Hapeville) and got them yesterday.

I'm a part of the west Cobb group (Lost Mountain area) and we got about a foot. It's all still there too, none has melted since. Should today though with the high approaching 60. I'll try to post a couple pictures later.

NW of you in North Paulding County, I stuck a ruler in the snow on my patio table and the tip of it was barely visible. Taking forever to melt!
