Avengers Infinity War ***The Spoilers Thread***

All they've said is that it starts before Thanos shows up. Based on where I think that story is going to go, and the title for the next AntMan, it's possible that they're in the quantum realm while Thanos appears and wind up re-appearing post Thanos.

Ugh. Haven't seen anything about the Ant Man movie, but I enjoyed the original. I'll be really disappointed if it takes place in space or another realm or whatever. Kind of like good old fashioned super heroes in the "real world" stories. All this alien/dimensional stuff tries my patience a bit.

I just think it’s silly how at the introduction of characters for the first time theyre made to seem unbeatable but then in subsequent movies they are weaker. I mean Thanos beat the living crap out of hulk with barely any fighting yet hulk is supposedly invincible. Also vision was all powerful when first introduced in a prior movie but this movie he’s a weakling. I think it would be hilarious though if in avengers 4 Thanos finishes off the rest of them when everyone is expecting a comeback by the good guys. It’s obvious Thor’s axe to Thanos’ head will be the end of Thanos though as he told him his weakness.

Didn't Thanos have a couple of the infinity stones when he beat the hulk? Is this how he was able to beat him so easy?

Hank Pym's wife/The Wasps Mom is trapped in the quantum realm. At least part of this story will take place with them trying to rescue her since Ant Man proved you could come back last time. The next Ant Man after this is supposedly called escape from the quantum or something like that.

Yes, he already had the power stone that he'd taken from Xander.

All I've heard about Ant-Man is that it is post-Civil War/pre-Infinity War, so I would assume that the post-credits scene will involve a lead-in to Part 2 of Infinity War. It's the only way to make sense of this movie being in between the two parts and actually getting these masses of people generated over the last couple of films to go watch.

I also think that Captain Marvel, while in the nineties, will be even more important as a lead-in to Infinity War Part 2, but they might also drag it out into the post-credits sequence so she can get a solid origin story before getting thrown into the war.

It’s supposed to be just before Infinity War and partially explain why they weren’t involved in Infinity War. It’s basically a parallel movie.

Yeah, that makes sense and would be the only way to maintain tone.

Warning an Infinity War Spoiler follows..

This is a pure WAG on my part, but I would imagine the movie concludes with them rescuing old Wasp for a tearful reunion with old AntMan and everything ends happy. Then in the postcredits old Wasp and old AntMan “disappear” in accordance with Infinity Wars. That way AntMan and Wasp will be involved in the sequel and maybe “choose” to work with the rest of the living Avengers to deal with Thanos on whatever time reset occurs at the start of Infinity Wars 2 rather than rescue old Wasp “again”.

I have no inside info, that’s just how I would do it if I was Feige and in total control of the overall story.

Yeah, I'm expecting someone gets lost to dust in the post credits. Doesn't Ant Man have a kid too, which was why he didn't join the Avengers? His family, like Hawkeye's, disappearing could be what brings him into the fold.

I'm also expecting several original Avengers to die in the next one (Cap for sure, Iron Man maybe) or be retired/replaced. I don't know anything about Captain Marvel, but I'm assuming she'll take a central role in a new Avengers lineup with some of the newer heroes like Falcon, Scarlet Witch, etc. Maybe a couple old Avengers stay or come in and out in support.

That is true as well.

I thought the movie was very good, I really did enjoy most of it.

Like others have said, the deaths had zero emotional impact because you know its not final. I know its a comic book, but come on. Can we kill Mark Ruffalo? The actor, not the Hulk, he was absolutely horrendous.

Also, how do Starlord and Iron Man last 30 seconds with Thanos?

Chris Evans is not under contract after Avengers 4 and Sebastian Stan is contracted for 4 more movies after Avengers 4.....would assume that leads to one of the comic book versions where Bucky takes over as Cap (The Falcon also took over as well)....

I think Nebula, Thanos' daughter, will be the one to actually kill Thanos. That's what happens in the comic book. She then takes the Infinity Guantlet and reverses the killings.

Just watched it today. Pretty damn good!. I kept waiting for him to be defeated and knew Thor would come through . Then bam the snap of the fingers was a oh crap moment. My only complaint was not enough Hulk . I really wanted to see him tearing shit up in the big showdown. Why was it he couldn't change? Also why no x men in with Avengers? They sure could've used the help. Im nit a comic reader that's why I don't know much at all

yes spoilers inside a spoiler thread...
is that we will definitely get a new iron "man" who will of course be a woman, probably of color. I've also heard that at least one avenger will die in the end and it's one of the characters whose actor doesn't want to do any more of these movies (not RDJ). Supposedly, if you've read the comics you already know..
Damn the me too movement is gonna effect a character called Iron man. Geez. this is getting out of hand.:):):):)

The movie rights to the X-Men universe (including Deadpool apparently) are owned by Fox, so they can't appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fox also owns Fantastic Four.

They own Spiderman too, but they cut a deal with Marvel to crossover Spider-Man, apparently after the Andrew Garfield version underwhelmed.

I wouldn't be shocked if a deal was made involving X-Men post Avengers 4, even though the various X-Men movies have been pretty successful both critically and commercially. But they've kind of run out the second X-Men trilogy, and Hugh Jackman has finished with the Wolverine character and Jennifer Lawrence is done, so I'm not sure where Fox goes with those rights from here. If they're going to try to keep the franchise alive with new actors, they could probably use the magic touch of Marvel Studios to make sure they land. If they launch a third iteration of X-Men, they'll be really pushing their luck in my opinion. And MCU will be trying to start a new Avengers version.

Spiderman is owned by Sony not Fox.

Disney has also agreed to purchase Fox so they can get access to all of those characters as well. That's just got to go through regulatory hurdles to complete. NBC/Comcast is apparently fighting it pretty hard as they entered a bid apparently higher than Disney's and were turned down. There's also bad blood between Comcast/Disney anyhow over the takeover attempt years back and the theme park wars since then.

That's right, thanks for the clarification on Spiderman, I knew that. I didn't realize the Fox Marvel rights would be part of the Disney purchase, that's interesting.

Yes, if they can acquire Fox then they will have purchased back the movie rights for all characters except for Spiderman, the Hulk, and Namor (Along with their associated sidekicks and villains).

What do you mean the Hulk? He's in the MCU.

Yes and No. He's owned by Universal Pictures, so they can't make any "Hulk" movies. The wording of that contract is done in a way that he can appear in other people's movies as a supporting character, but they can't make any Hulk movies or use any of the associated characters such as She-Hulk, General Ross, etc...

So they've attempted to tell the Hulk's story as an arc throughout several movies. The major story they're telling now starts in Thor:Ragnarok and is ongoing through Infinity War with this whole battle between Bruce and the Hulk for control.

Yet, there was The Incredible Hulk starring Ed Norton which was one of the first movies in the MCU.

That movie is technically part of the MCU, but it's like the ugly stepchild no one likes to talk about. Marvel didn't have full control over that movie as they do with those they own as it was a Universal Picture. So Universal also had a lot of control and the movie wound up broken as that relationship was very strained.

Since then Universal and Marvel haven't been able to work out an agreement to do a Hulk movie as part of the MCU. To do so, I think Universal would have to want to allow it, Marvel would have to want to do it, and like with the deal over Sony, Marvel would demand full control over the story and direction of the Hulk movie while allowing Universal to distribute it and own it. I'm not certain either entity likes each other enough to want to even attempt to, and Ruffalo has said he actually likes just telling his story in other people's movies without the stress of having it have to be his own movie.

Rented Black Panther today, then went and saw Infinity.

Black Panther was not good, imo

I liked infinity. Lots of merging stories to process. I took my 5 year old stepson, it was his first time to go to the theatre, and he’s all amped up so it was sort of distracting (but finished radiation this week, so I don’t care).

I thought - same as others- what used to be indestrucatable characters were made to seem fragile. I really enjoyed the humor inserted, and have come to really like the GOTG characters . Piggybacking on above, don’t really dig the Wakanda stuff, but enjoyed everything else. Thanos CGi was bad, but didn’t takeaway too much.

I have no idea who Captain Marvel is, or who the hinted at character is at the end of GOTG 2 , so I guess I’ll wiki it or wait for someone to fill me in.

Also, didn’t make the end credits, aforementioned kid in tow, are the extra scenes out there for viewing?
