I read the average 40 time for TE's at this year's combine was 4.65 seconds. Sure, that's skewed by Ole Miss TE Engram running a 4.42, Bama TE Howard running a 4.51, & the TE out of Iowa (Iowa!?) running a 4.52, but for the average 40 time of guys who are 240-250 pounds to be that fast is impressive.
That said, our best wide receiver, at 189 pounds, had an official time that was the average time for TE's. Our 2-year starter at CB ran similarly (I don't know White's official time, but unofficial was 4.68 & 4.60 ... so his official could be a bit better than the TE average).
I'm wondering if FSU's team speed isn't as impressive as we tend to believe it to be. Another poster suggested maybe that's why we have such problems with spread offenses (I tend to lean toward a bunch of confused players, but that is a different subject...). It's hard to argue when you see a traditionally slow (slowish) position group like Tight End running as fast as our WR's & CB's.
So, what say you? Is FSU slow for a top tier team?
