Your thoughts on this film? Went today with zero insights or expectations. Pleasantly surprised. Thoughts?

Same thing here. Really enjoyed it. Fun movie. Part Guardians of Galaxy (for the music), part Point Break and a little bit of Fast and Furious rolled into one.

Ok. I'd give it a B.

Anytime with driving and music, solid A. However, there was like 50 minutes in the middle with no driving, and a lame-ass love story, which is a C- at best. The female lead was generic paper character, and the love story simplistic and unearned. They needed a better female lead character and/or more convincing and less cliched love story if they weren't going to have more driving.

I like the style of it, the music, and the stunt driving. Spacey and Jon Hamm were excellent. Jamie Fox did a good job of course, but his character was way over the top and not that well written. They needed to either jettison the love story and make it a straight heist movie, or do a better job with that part of the premise.

I thought it was far better than the previews showed...............great sound track, awesome driving, and of course had some hotties.

This. Spot on for me.

I thought the weakest actor in the film was the lead.

Cinematography and music were good. Story was alright but could have been more well written, they left a lot on the table.

If you were interested in Baby Driver (independent heist movie), keep an eye out for American Animals. I was lucky enough to catch it in the theater, even though it was in and out pretty quickly as an independent type film. I've got to think it hits streaming in the next month or so. Watch it.

The less said about it the better...it's a true and crazy story, so if I were you I wouldn't look up anything about the movie ahead of time, just enjoy it for what it is. Your mileage will vary, but I thought it was the best movie I've seen in several years.

I was ho hum on it.

I didn't find the lead very compelling. I did like the supporting cast. I like the car chase scenes and the music syncing (gained more appreciation after reading some articles on that) but over all the story was meh. Hope the baby driver didn't get caught alone with Spacey.

I kept thinking of him in Horrible Bosses which worked well for a comedy.

Great editing and early chase scenes. Movie and plot kind of ran out of gas and devolved by the end. 1st 45 mins was well worth the price of admission IMO.

Finally got to watch American Animals. Not what I was expecting at all, little disappointed. Started out one direction, the vibe is a bit all over the place. Different, that's for sure. I didn't love it, though.

I thought this also. Fox's character was just too much.

FWIW I did like the lead character. I thought he was what he was supposed to be - this quiet unassuming kid, who just happened to be really good at driving cars.

The love story was a little thin and cheesy, but I'm okay with that.

Anyway, I saw Baby Driver in the theater, and I liked it enough to watch it multiple times now that it's out on cable.

Same on all the above.

Im slow on the know, but didn't realize director (Edgar Wright) was the same as the Cornetto Trilogy (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The World's End). Now that I know, the music and cinematography style makes a little more sense. If I'd known it was same director, I'd have been disappointed that film was not a comedy, as I loved all 3 of the Cornetto Triology films.

Thanks for the update. Sorry you didn't enjoy it after I recommended it. I'm going to watch it again soon, I guess I'll see if my impression softens at all on a second watch.

I didn't hate it, I probably went into it with a certain mindset and may have affected my impressions of the film.

It was well-made and certainly felt like a unique delivery. The film was well-acted and the story was interesting. Expectations can certainly affect impressions, so that's probably where it lands with me.
