I don’t get to come to Tallahassee much at all, but my buddy and I (who played and graduated from BCC) will be getting to attend the game this Saturday! Super stoked to be there. We love to try local bbq places... any suggestions? Also, where’s the best place to single game park? Tia!

4 Rivers. Nole owned.

Let me suggest you go outside comfort zone of BBQ with two great options:

Backwoods Crossing
* farm to table
* affordable with big portions
* near I-10 if that is convenient on way in or out of town
* menu (https://www.backwoodscrossing.com/menu)

Midtown Caboose
* really creative burger/sandwich joint
* menu (http://www.midtowncaboose.com/menu/)

Is the midtown caboose local only? Or a chain?

I agree with this post and will also add Mission BBQ off Magnolia Drive.

I have 4 rivers behind my seats in the club. Myself and all my guests love it.
Agreed. The chicken was really good for the Syracuse game. And chicken is not one of my favorites. I have also been to the locations in Tallahassee and Orlando. Good stuff

Just recently discovered mission bbq, is in the area of Apalachee pkwy/magnolia, close to Buffalo Wild Wings, sing the national anthem everyday at noon, lots of veteran tributes, etc...

Another vote for Mo Betta. I think Tiny's closed quite a while ago.

I like Red Shed off east highway 90 behind Maxwells's. Bit of a drive unless you happen to be on the east side of Tally. About four miles east of I-10, take left at first light, Crump Rd. On the right behind the store.

Eating at Jim and Milts started for me in 1978.....Now it's a family tradition. The owner was an old Miami boy and I knew and worked with his brother back in the day.

Count me in for 4Rivers brisket and bacon jalapenos. Mo Betta is really good too, and a bit cheaper.

There's also a Dreamland in the Tallahassee Mall if you like ribs.

BBQ in Tallahassee is straight up garbage. It’s not real bbq.

Mission is barely ok. Four rivers is a step below it.

I had mo bettas brisket one time and couldn’t finish it because it was so dry. I’d stick with the top two because at least the sides are ok.

Is there better brisket in the state of Florida than 4Rivers? I haven't found it. And Mo Betta is known for ribs, not brisket. In review: brisket at 4Rivers, ribs at Mo Betta. Then report back.

The worst brisket I’ve had in Texas is still ten times better than 4 rivers.

I spent a lot of time around bbq in the low country and Texas. No one in Tallahassee makes anything I consider even remotely good. Sometimes mission has blackplate specials and their beef rib or smoked ribeyes and prime rib are good. But nothing else there is special. Same as 4 rivers. Nothing there is above mediocre

My kid and nephew love Willie Jewels on Thomasville Rd. As is the case with any BBQ, it doesn't suck.

The best is actually at Hamaknockers on 98 in Crawfordville/Panacea. Worth the drive if you are truly searching for the best in the area. The ribs are really good. Pork is good. Brisket is not Texas style but more "FL" style. BBQ in Tally is not real good.

I agree on Mo Betta though. Pretty decent, hidden gem..

I haven't seen this mentioned in this thread yet and since I live in Tally and have eaten at all of the BBQ joints mentioned. I'd like to add another that is cheap and has outstanding ribs. I haven't tried anything else here since their ribs are so good! Oh, and their $5 rib meal will fill up a grown man!

E & J 5 Buck BBQ - 1622 S Monroe St, Tallahassee, FL 32301 Open 11AM - 6PM (Closed Sunday & Monday)
