The jokes began flowing immediately. Here's one of the better ones:

President Worthen, in response to a question on why he's allowing this change, said "I figured everyone needed a hard one after losing 7 times in a row to Utah".

Slippery slope. Next they'll let co-eds wear dresses that are hemmed above the ankles. Look at Baylor, the school let the students dance and the next thing you know serial rapists roaming the campus (except on Saturday when they were playing football).

I caution them. There is a very small line between energy drinks and sexting with marsupials.

As long as they don't limit the number of wives you can have....

I remember when we played them they were excited to point out the line at the concession stand that had caffeinated drinks for all us heathens. That we all showed up drunk didn't help.

Should help fans stay awake at their football games.

Is nothing sacred in this world now? Its been a 170 years, so Joseph Smith is tightening up his magic underwear and rolling in his grave.

I don't like it. If you're going to make something part of your dogma, at least stick by it and remain true to it. It's a Mormon school that adheres to Mormon practices, and their stadium should reflect that. Agree or not, visitors should get to at least see commitment to those practices when they go to games there. Just my opinion.

There's no specific prohibition against soft drinks or caffeine in the Mormon code. Joseph Smith had "hot drinks" on his list of "don'ts", and that was taken to mean coffee and tea.

Some Mormons feel soft drinks should be a no-no if they contain any caffeine, but this has apparently never been a formal church rule. BYU says it has not been selling caffeinated soft drinks on campus because there has been no demand for them...not because the Mormon church bans them.

Never understood why Mormonism is still a thing. There is zero historical evidence for the claims of Smith; still waiting on the discovery of the golden plates in upstate New York; probably underneath 3 foot of concrete next to Hoffa's gunshot ridden skull.

Unlike the strong physical evidence of all the other religions...

Strobel asks a lot of good questions, but in every case he defaults to the conservative answer with no real basis for doing so other than it sounds good to him.

You have a right to your opinion. I think there are a lot of Christian academics and theologians who are more persuasive.

Just as a point of order, I was referring specifically to the Catholic doctrine of transsubstantiation earlier...not the belief in Christ's divinity.

Nothing I said was cynical. There is no physical proof of you religious beliefs. That's why it's called "faith."
You are free to believe that you choose the right one, but it's just based on faith like the others. To mock theirs is silly.

IBTL.

Cant believe its gone this long compared to other threads getting nuked. Or religion is okay but smelling like politics isn't?

I've always had a theory that Smith was a sexual deviant who probably wandered into a field and got a hold of some bad shrooms.
