I believe the reason we weren't willing to get into bidding wars over Smith, Bolden, Blount, and McCray, is because we are all in on Cam Ward. Cam Ward is a far better player than DJU. He had a 67% completion percentage last year, while DJU had a 57%. That is a massive difference in accuracy. DJU is just not consistently accurate. Cam Ward is option 1A. We don't want to let Miami have him. If Miami lands Cam Ward, they're going to kick our ass next year. They already have a solid running game and defense, if they get a great QB, they will be a force to be reckoned with. We cannot let Miami have Cam Ward. Apparently Miami is starting to recruit KJ Jefferson, which means they might be expecting us to land Ward at this point. Also, apparently Cam Ward's dad is a huge factor in the decision making, and he doesn't care about NIL, he wants Ward to go where he will be best developed for the NFL. That is heavily in our favor, as Miami has a terrible track record with QBs recently.
