Cardi B

Do kids really "look up to" people like this? I mean, I'm sure there are some poor kids who aspire to hood rat greatness, but "normal" kids?

I looked up her song that wss referenced in the interview. It's not terrible. I let the daughter listen to it, and she'd never heard of Cardi B. Seems like a flash in the pan who'll fall back to obscurity shortly.

Yeah, listening to her talk is beyond painful. One of the comments below that linked video called her Retardi B - she definitely doesn't come across as the intellectual type. I didn't mind the song though.

She makes the cash me outside girl sound like a Rhodes Scholar. Despite that, she was in the charts for 27 weeks. NDallasRuss I'd be surprised if your daughter hadn't heard it. Much to my dismay, even I had heard it.

Said little bitch, you can't **** with me
If you wanted to
These expensive, these is red bottoms
These is bloody shoes
Hit the store, I can get 'em both
I don't wanna choose
And I'm quick, cut a nigga hustle
Don't get comfortable
Look, I don't dance now
I make money moves
Say I don't gotta dance
I make money move
If I see you and I don't speak
That means I don't **** with you
I'm a boss, you a worker bitch
I make bloody moves

Miley Curus did a partial pop-version cover on Jimmy Fallon. Wasn't bad at all.
She's pretty cute too...
Starts about 3:45

In our day parents said the same thing about Ozzy Osbourne and Cheech and Chong. What you like doesn't make what you are. The kids will be fine...

Good point, Ozzy was just as strange and not that talented too....maybe more overrated than The Beatles.

See? This is why I didn't reproduce. Then I would have kids to make me listen to this crap. Now I can just listen to Rush all day if I want.

Nah man - not if you do it right. I've got a 14yo who listens to Green Day, Foo Fighters, Rage Against the Machine, Cypress Hill, etc. The only current music she listens to is alt rock, which isn't so bad. Outside of a brief dalliance with Taylor Swift music in elementary school, she's never listened to "pop" music. That's why i wasn't real surprised that she didn't know about Cardi B's music - it's just not her thing. I love that she knows way more about 90's rock and hip hop than she does about current popular music.

Thanks, but it's way too early to tell how badly I may have screwed that kid up! She may still end up on stage, dancing for dollars, and the only difference that I made is that her music choices will be pretty decent.

No need to worry unless you come across a text where she mentions changing her name to "Skylar". Main Stage fears may come to fruition.

She stated that her friends called Her sister “Hennessy” And that she was called “Bacardi”. Like the drinks... so she switched it to Cardi B
It's funny that she said that she had to change it because Bacardi was giving her a hard time. They're probably kicking themselves that they didn't cultivate a better relationship to have that tie-in/spokesperson now!

Just goes to show why you should always be nice to people - you never know who's going to turn out to be somebody!
