Carlson wins World Aquatics High Diving title

Former Florida State diver Molly Carlson captured the World Aquatics High Diving title on Saturday in Fort Lauderdale.

While representing Canada, Carlson tallied 374.00 points over her four dives, three of which were new to her list, to best Rhiannan Iffland (Australia) by just over 10 points (363.85).

After sitting in second place for the first two rounds, Carlson jumped to the top of the leaderboard on her third dive. She sealed the win after doing a half-twisting forward quad, which boasts a 4.4 degree of difficulty to earn a tally of 121.00.

Prior to her World Cup victory, Carlson won the first Canadian Senior High Diving title on May 15 with a score of 382.30.

A permanent Red Bull athlete, Carlson will begin competing in the 2023 Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series, on June 3 in Boston, Massachusetts at The Institute of Contemporary Art. The finals will air live on Red Bull TV.

Last season, Carlson picked up her first Red Bull Cliff Diving series win at the same stop.

Following the stop in Boston, Carlson will compete in events in Paris, France (June 18), Polignano a Mare, Italy (July 2), Takachiho, Japan (August 3), Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina (Sept. 9) and Auckland, New Zealand (Nov. 19). Carlson also qualified for the World Aquatics Championship, which will be held July 25-27 in Fukuoka, Japan.

Abramowicz, Helling Final at National Meets

After diving in his final 2023 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, Tazman Abramowicz competed at the 2023 Canadian Summer National Championships, which were held in Toronto, Ontario at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre.

Abramowicz trained and competed for tougher dives from his collegiate list and he turned in a score of 326.25 in 3-meter prelims for seventh place. In finals, he improved, scoring 394.45 for fourth.

On 1-meter, Abramowicz turned in the third-highest score at 331.90 and placed fourth in finals at 329.75.

Jesco Helling dove at the German National Championships that ran from May 15-21.

Helling scored 318.40 for fifth in prelims on 1-meter. He improved his score at finals (325.00) and finished seventh. On platform, Helling tallied 354.95 in prelims and followed with a fifth-place showing in semifinals at 329.35.

In the final round, Helling tallied 344.35, placing sixth.
