FSU sports information:

Ta’Niya Latson tied the Florida State record with 40 points Thursday night as the Seminoles (12-2, 2-0 ACC) beat Virginia Tech (9-4, 0-2) 105-74 at Cassell Coliseum. Latson entered the contest as the nation’s leading scorer at 27.2 points per game, and the Seminoles ranked second in the country with 94.9 points per game. It was FSU’s fifth game scoring over 100 points this season.

Latson’s 40 points matched Natasha Howard’s school record, set February 13, 2014, at Syracuse. Latson previously scored 39 points vs. SMU and 38 points at Tennessee earlier this season.

Against the Hokies, Latson connected on 18 of 28 shots and 2 of 3 from beyond the arc. The junior scored 23 points after halftime. FSU’s 105 points are the third-most in an ACC game in school history.

Florida State led for 39 minutes on Thursday, extending its lead to 38 points in the fourth quarter. Joining Latson in double figures was O’Mariah Gordon with 18 and Makayla Timpson with 16. Gordon added a career-high seven steals and FSU had 21 in the game, a season high.

As a team, FSU connected on 7 of 17 three-point attempts and scored 74 points in the paint, the most this season. FSU also shot 58 percent from the floor, a season best.

Via the ACC:

Latson became the first player since Virginia Tech's Elizabeth Kitley scored 42 against FCGU on March 18, 2022 to score 40 points in a game and first in an ACC contest since Clemson's Delicia Washington on Jan. 9, 2022.

Some of Latson's highlights from last night. What's fun to watch is her using defense to spark easy bucket for Latson and teammates:
