After 36 holes of play on Tuesday, the Florida State men's golf team defeated six ranked teams to win the Watersound Invitational at the Shark's Tooth Golf Course in Panama City Beach.
After a round of 73 on Monday, Luke Clanton caught fire, tuning in scores of 66 and 67 to win his fifth collegiate golf tournament at 10-under, 206.
Tyler Weaver and Michael Mays finished the invitational tied at sixth, 5-under par, 211. Weaver also shot 73 on Monday and improved in round two, shooting 71. In the third round, Weaver carded five birdies in his bogey-free round. Mays saw back-to-back rounds of 72.
Gray Albright tied for 30th, finishing even, while Jack Bigham was 39th at 2-over following a third-round score of 69.
Playing individually, Carson Brewer also tied for sixth place after a strong third round of 67, finishing at 5-under.
The Seminoles sat in first place In round one, sitting at 10-under par, advancing to 15-under par throughout rounds two and three. Down the stretch, the Seminoles pulled away from Alabama, winning the tournament by nine strokes.
Florida State has earned 61 birdies and four eagles total, led by Clanton, who carded three eagles and 12 birdies. Mays contributed 12 birdies and one eagle.
