Mike Norvell can’t afford to miss. That’s not a hot take. It’s not a story idea rooted in his $4.5 million give-back to FSU, one that will help the football team retain and attract athletes in the short and long term.

It’s a way of life for him as Florida State’s head coach. And an offseason storyline.

He needs to hit and minimize misses in everything from his now-completed coaching hires to transfer portal pursuits to roster management to how to spend NIL money. There are short- and long-term decisions to be weighed in December 2024 that will impact the 2025 team and beyond, but Norvell doesn’t have the luxury of your patience as an FSU fan (or ticket holder). And not after a 2-10 season.
