Couple questions for Discussion

First off, I am a fan of Coach Norvell so this thread isn't to bash or complain. It's meant to discuss different points of view and get others opinions on two specific things that had me scratching my head and wondering why (or why not):

1) With 1:33 (or there about) left in the half, we were punting and clock was winding down. I just assumed FSU would let the play clock wind all the way to 1 sec and then call timeout leaving Clemson with less time in the half. Instead, we punted with over 10 sec on the play clock. I realize this type of thing may seem petty. And fortunately it didn't end up hurting us. But why didn't the coaches let the clock run all the way down in that situation? It gave Clemson additional time. I get that one argument is that we could use all 3 timeouts if we held Clemson on D...which we did. But those odds really didn't seem to be in our favor given first, we'd have to stop them. And then even IF we got the ball back, the odds of us doing anything in a short time and having to go length of the field to do it were monumental.

2) Clemson was called for holding and we declined the penalty. From what I can tell, we gave up what would have been 1st and at least 20 yards, for a 2nd and 12. We declined because there was loss of 2 yards on the play. But I would have certainly rather had them in 1st and 20+ vs 2nd and 12. And coaches didn't even seem to hesitate on declining the penalty. And of course, Clemson proceeded to easily get a first down.

Not saying these things cost us the game or anything. Just curious if others had same questions.
