dealing with aging parents

My wife owns a Senior Move Management company working with older adults and families who are downsizing, moving or when someone passes away. (A Stress-Less Transition, LLC) She is pretty-well connected in the Senior Industry and would be happy to talk with you about the concerns and ideas you have regarding your mom. She offers a complimentary consultation and can get you pointed in the right direction. A lot of us have dealt with the very same issues. And...some of us will soon be those aging parents! Wish you the best!

just sent her an email - thanks for the referral and for (most) of the other replies as well

My mom's 83 and really starting to show some signs of aging, just wondering if anyone had run across any helpful websites, devices, tricks for helping her to remember to take meds etc.

For example, thinking one of those wi-fi picture frames might be nice so the family could send her new photos to brighten her day

I've even considered if a parakeet or other pet might be a nice companion. She doesn't know what day it is but it's funny because unless it's Sunday, it really doesn't matter what day it is. Just looking for things to keep her mind engaged everyday

As a nurse and a son of a 65 year mother and grandson to a 94 grandmother Check into adult daycare. The more mental stimulation the better.

Find an MD specializing in geriatric medicine, go with your parent to all MD appointments. Keep a current up to date list of all meds including all OTC's

Lastly hiring a granny-nanny to give you the care-giver a break is okay

good luck

Count me in favor of giving people the right to decide when and how to bring about
a dignified end to their own lives. Right now, I only know of Oregon that allows people
to make this choice. Give people the credit of having the intelligence to make this critical decision.
