What a great Nole. Science is what we need to follow. Protect the players. Pause. Put the breaks on the season. Dr. Rolle just said.

I suspect Dr. Rolle's opinion on football and head injuries has changed over the years too. If he had kids, would he let them play or would he guide them to another sport?

I'd venture a guess that he'd let them play, but not encourage them to play. BTW, what are the sports with the lowest concussion/debilitating injury statistics? For highest, I would guess
1.Boxing/MMA
2.Football
3.Soccer
and a whole lot of I dunno.

217 deaths reported in Florida today. Another record. This pattern will continue to increase so long as everything is wide open and there’s little compliance with mask wearing etc. Football should be the last thing on anyone’s mind.

I drove down to South Florida from Decatur, GA on 7/10 and spent about 10 days there. We stopped in Ocala and it was packed around lunch time on the roads. Found a gas station and nobody was wearing masks in the convenience store, including the clerks (despite having a sign on the door that employees must wear them) or appeared to be wearing them much anywhere in sight. Couldn't wait to get the hell out of there. But down in Broward, all stores/restaurants people were wearing them. We got a lot of takeout and my wife went shopping a few times w/the kids and they felt safe with everybody masking up. I was pleasantly surprised. Pompano Beach wasn't crowded and we had tons of space to social distance.

Not at all. Just been amazed that so many people want to play with young people's safety. Listening to the science and making policy based on facts makes me feel relieved.
What "science" and "facts" do you refer to showing that 18-22 yr olds are at any more risk for their health? Can you give me the number of 18-22 yr olds that have been hospitalized with covdi? Or what about the mortality rate of 18-22 yr olds from covid vs other viruses?

Actually you have it completely wrong. Per participation rate the following sports are the highest risk for concussions:
Cycling
Cheerleading
Soccer
Football
Wrestling

The actual rates of concussions in football has been going down for several years.

Having two kids play year around soccer including travel ball I can only recall seeing one boy having concussion like symptoms. My son is 14 and the game does get rougher as they enter high school. But with my daughter there was hardly a tournament that we attended where you didn't see a girl or two have get checked out for a concussion. I would estimate every season you would have one or two have to sit out some games in high school due to concussions. I wouldn't doubt if a vast majority of concussions in soccer is not on the women's side.

Where are you seeing little compliance with mask wearing? I haven’t been inside a public place and seen a person not wearing a mask in literally weeks. Cases are also down on average by almost 2k per day, deaths will follow.

I don’t believe stats that don’t include boxing or MMA as one of, if not the highest, rates of concussions.

There is actually a very interesting study going on currently about what possible casues it may be for the injury cases in male vs female.

Good article.

yes, a very good article. I've been saying...to make sound decisions on policy, sports, business, you have to have context around the numbers. When, where, who, how old, etc.

If you just spout off that "OMG, A RECORD DIED TODAY!!!!" that does absolutely no good at all. None.

I just hope people making the decisions have this information to make the most informed decisions possible, and don't just read headlines and twitter.

BTW, I'm glad Myron is getting air time, but doctors are wrong....all the time. I don't trust them, as a whole, all that much more as it relates to this virus, than anyone else.

You're very easy with the lives of other folks' kids. Here's some science. Do yiur own research next time. https://www.ucsf.edu/news/2020/07/418081/1-3-young-adults-may-face-severe-covid-19-ucsf-study-shows

So how many of the quarentined athletes have required hospitailization? "young adults "may" face risks of flu and pnuemonia as well. Show me data from ANY of the quaratined athletes the shows they are at a greater risk and I will gladly retract my statement.

Are they facts? Please cite your study. How were concussions assessed? How was data collected? See, that’s how your facts can be flawed and I can doubt them.

After you are through reading this data, let me know and I will send you hundreds of others studies and research.
