Elementary School Principal Steals $900 from Mentally Disabled Student

... and obviously this happened in Florida. There is the question of why the Principal would be stupid enough to steal money after teachers counted it, but is nobody asking why the parents had $2,100 cash lying around where a mentally disabled 9-year-old could take it?

On Oct. 23, the student brought $2,100 of his parents’ money to school. Once teachers realized, deputies said they took it, counted it and locked it in the principal’s office.

When the student’s mother went to collect the money, Abernathy only returned $1,200, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives later determined Abernathy kept the rest.

I’m always amazed that people are willing to lose their job for some walking around money. I knew a lawyer that had a great job at a firm and got fired for submitting false mileage reimbursement. I couldn’t believe it - you got fired from a job making six figures for $400 - $600. Crazy

The principal wanted to cover tracks by saying "$1,200, not $2,100 - someone transposed numbers". That is why the oddball amount was taken.

Not necessarily - a little while back I posted what was front page news here in SV, a Redwood City teacher who taped herself with a minor (who happened to be a family member). The stuff hit the fan when a classmate of the minor saw the video uploaded to PornHub. There is a lengthy list of charges.

Anyhow, this post - which I kept in the realm of "sensationalist/WTF" and not porn-oriented - disappeared from this board without a sound. And I was not getting LR-cute and brushing up against the rules.

So, your post doesn't have to be a strictly teacher vs student arrest to get popped.
