Fear of the Walking Dead

Hahaha! Yes Nick...obviously haven't learned all of their names yet. He may be a different animal but requires just as much attention as young Carl.
I think Angsty McAngsterson is closer to the new Carl. She's already gone through the neighbors house and you know she's gonna sneak out to see her infected boyfriend again.

She is totally going to find him after she finishes the self mutation...i mean tattoo.

Ok, so these zombies are super fresh at this point. In Atlanta on TWD after about a month zombies could pick up bricks and hit windows. We also had zombies who had seats on a bus to take a rest before trying to eat Rick as he rolled into Atlanta. Then there were the fence climbing zombies.

With these FTWD zombies are we going to get to assume these will be a bit smarter than the season one zombies from TWD? If they are I wonder what their abilities will be.

Are these shows going to merge into one? I like the Walking Dead. This new shit to me is just a ploy to keep their channel running. I am such a hater of thoughtlessness and plagerism. So my DVR started taping it and I got all excited but then watched the little preview with actor interviews and was like F-this. But now other than football, I don't really have shit to watch since GOT only goes 12 weeks a year. If the plan is to have these shows cross then I'll go back and watch them. Saw one actual episode maybe 2 where the junkie kid wakes up and also when he kills his friend. Just seemed like a shitty rip off to me.

Man, you sound way too angry over a TV show. It's solid, it's in the same universe and created by the same guy who created tWD so I have little qualms with it.

The problem is the characters aren't endearing... can't stand Druggy Depp and the mom needs to lock it down some.

Why do we need endearing characters? In general, people are a__hole morons or selfish. I think the apocalypse would bring out the worst in a lot of folks (I think if the end was nearing the only thing I would care about would by my family - that isn't an endearing trait to viewers but it's more realistic than trying to be captain save everyone). Traditional film/TV tropes can by cinematically boring especially in a mini series like this. There are dumb and selfish people trying to survive who encounter even bigger selfish evil people and in the end, all of them die.

Maybe endearing is a bad word... how about I don't give a f about them or their story?? I actually want a couple of them to die...

They are boring and I get ist at the beginning and the base story needs to be set. I watch the show and probably will continue to watch it but I care alot more about some of the characters on TWD and ultimately that is what drives me watching it.

The big difference between GoT and Walking Dead is in GoT they make you love a character before they kill them and in the Walking Dead they make you hate a character and then they kill them off.

I gotcha. I think it's tough to create characters you care about in a short mini series like this. The long game of tWD works b/c there's a continuing story line that spans multiple season, this is a bridge. If studios had more balls, they would take bigger risk w/ characters in these mini series and make unlikable characters on purpose (instead of poor writing) or at least a morally gray lead character. Mr. Robot's lead actor/character, Elliot, is a prime example of this. He's not a hero, he's an anarchist hacker who has a twisted sense of altruism and you, as a viewer struggle to root for or cheer for him. You cheer for those around him to not get caught up but it's still fantastic character TV.

It would be cool to see some a__hole character as the lead running around doing a__hole things and getting gutted after the 1st few episodes.

Ditto. Fans of TWD kept asking for more of what happened when the dead started coming back. It may not be going the direction many envisioned, but I am enjoying the show thus far. It isn't the Walking Dead and that is refreshing. Showing different points in time of the zombie outbreak is reminiscent of the book World War Z, which I loved. It should be interesting to see different survival tactics as the show progresses, has incredible population density as compared to the rural setting of TWD.
