Fear of the walking dead

I wonder if Travis will be this show's version of Ned Stark. The actor has a bit of a name and showed promise early on. For me the thing is in the first episode where he was talking about survival and the character dieing because the character didn't have what it takes to survive.

As we have seen with Travis, he tried to convince Maddison that the zombies were sick and could possibly be helped. Then., he wouldn't take the shot on the diner girl. He's weak and not meant for this world. Even Dale had bigger cajones. Heck, Herschel even came around. Travis is zombie food for this episode and will probably do something heroic in the process. I just don't see him making it.

BTW, Flight 462 FTWD webisodes start this Sunday!

Part of me thinks Travis' story arc will be him resorting back to his gangbanging, hardcore street surviving ways after something tragic happens. He won't be Dale but we might see some Training Day Travis.

I really hope that is the case for Travis as I am losing hope for the character. I feel the only way he changes is if someone really close to him kicks the bucket. My guess is either the ex-wife or his son and he's going to have to put the zombie family member down. Otherwise I feel Travis is nothing more than zombie chow just waiting to be eaten.

Yep, same here. He seemed to be having a PTSD type moment when he was going to shoot that walker with the 50 cal. Too much fuss about guns for him to not have a checkered past.

Totally get the idea that they are baiting the audience in to believing he is a p**sy and he is actually going to be the mass zombie murder we all want him to be.

Go back and watch season 1 of TWD. The zombies were definitely much faster, and had some coordination - using a rock to break through a glass door. FWD zombies are slower than the ones in the latter seasons of TWD.
Maybe much like how certain people a destined to become zombie chow, the initial outbreak has all types of walkers. By the time we got to TWD time, most of the slower ones had been put down or became trapped in some obstacle. Non-survival of the fittest?

The hitch is that we should've seen some more advanced walkers mixed in with the group, but we haven't really encountered much of a sample size yet.

"Sample size" of walkers. Awesome.

Is Michael Jackson still alive in this world? If so then it's definitely him. If not Brittany Spears.

I'd want the celebrity to be this guy:

Glad to see Travis finally lose his crap on someone. Very interested to see how this whole "escape to the sea" thing plays out. The Talking Dead afterwards had the producer leading up to meeting more survivors on the open waters and how this plot leads to all sorts of other possibilities.

All and all I was actually disappointed in it. What I wanted to see was something like the first forty minutes of the remake of Dawn of the Dead, just a crazy outbreak of zombies and getting to see everything breakdown including how the military manages to lose.

Instead, they gave us the first zombie which is fine...then just the very initial first spread, then skipped over the good part with everyone hanging out in a secure zone while stuff goes on offscreen. They took the "Falling Skies" technique which just P^&*^es me off. End of first Episode, "Oh man, look at all of this amazing stuff that's JUST about to happen!". Start of next episode "Hey man, all of that amazing stuff that happened after the last episode and before just now was amazing wouldn't that have been awesome to see?"

I liked this episode the least of all. Too many B movie cliches... key character getting shot through the arm ("it's a through and through".. of course), the doctor who gives up because he/she knows what others don't, the main character unleashing his repressed superhero, then having to take matters into his own hands with a family member, etc. etc. I thought it was poorly written and the least interesting episode thus far.

Very true on the cliches. The annoying "don't be compassionate or it will come back to bite you in the %*^" cliche was front and center. But yes, you could have written this entire episode simply by pulling standard pages from the "rule book".

My guess is FWD had budget constraints and might get better next season. For example, notice how almost all the zombie scenes are in the dark or shot from a distance.

I liked the episode and thoroughly enjoyed the 6 episodes. I wish it was continuing, and I'd even be willing to wait on the premier of TWD if they had more Fear episodes.

I liked the season finale as well.

Did the doctor off herself due to knowing what others did not or was it due to watching her fellow soldiers take off without evacuating the injured? This forced her to have to mercy kill everyone she had been trying to save. As we know humanity is all but lost in the new world and maybe she did not want any part of it.

My sentiments exactly, even the "chaotic" riot scene looked phony. What's with the almost immediate widespread power outage, strategic zombie attack on the power plants or maybe the rioters schemed it up so they could riot in the dark?

I am really interested in the Strand character. What did he do to get all his money? Why was he locked up by the military?

As for all the "infected" in the arena, how did Salazar find them in the first place? There is no way the arena was within the fences of the "safe zone". So, we are to believe that at night he walked out of the "safe zone" found the arena, and came back? All the while he didn't come across one of the "infected"?

Then to go free his wife and Nick, they released all the "infected" from the arena and led them to the military complex/hospital? I get you want to try and get your family members back, but how would anyone think this is a good idea?

I got this off of Reddit this morning. It may be a spoiler of where the show is headed. It may not. But it's a pretty good catch if you ask me

I thought it was cool that dude was still alive and getting his leg gnawed on...

That was a great scene. Strand stands over him and takes his cuff links back and then tells him, "you can keep the watch". When they soldier says kill me, Strand tells him "you will die soon enough".

Ironic on Talking dead poll 60% viewed Strand as a good guy. I don't get this at all. He is a great character and providing a spark to this show but he is has no empathy, enjoys tormenting people and is at ease in this world, the devil personified imo.

I caught the first few episodes of TWD last night. Man, that was must-see TV. I got kinda bored with it halfway through the third season.

Strand in the old world was probably not a good guy. In this world he's the best of guys. I don't see him going all Governor or anything but I do see him as having more of a level head than say a Mr. Rick Grimes.

I actually liked the finale - at least it was exciting. Travis broke bad and there was a circle of ironic things that happened.

Daniel released the walkers from the arena (to answer a previous post - the kidnapped soldier told him the location) and one of them bit Liza who actually put down Daniel's wife (with the ankle injury) - then Travis later had to kill Liza due to her bite.

Also, Travis released the soldier who shot the daughter and Travis beat him to a bloody pulp. Travis became Rick in almost one day when it took Rick a couple of seasons.

I liked it. Thought it was very good depiction of what would happen. Agree with a lot of what was said on talking dead. This was only 9 days or so after outbreak. A lot of people would be nervous to just go shooting all the neighbors. I mean there's a few I would take out, but not everybody. Looking forward to next season.

Agree with both of these comments, was really disappointed we didnt get to see the madness. We still really have no answers on why certain things happen, really feel like they are leaving a lot on the table.

I'm still confused on where the millions of people in the greater LA area have gone? There seem to be only a handful of zombies walking around. And these 7 people and 3 cars are the only things moving in the whole city. Where are all the other "survivors" if the military has pulled out? Would'nt tons of people be on the move now? Or are we to assume they are just sitting in their houses in the little safe zones.

And I know Liza was doomed, but instead of taking a bullet with no signs of death/turning yet. Why not stay around and possibly sacrifice yourself in a situation to save your family? Don't see the need to blow your brains out right away. She knows she is not going to just turn and will die first. Why not take out or at least distract a group of zombies to free your family? If that opportunity never comes, just take a bullet whenever you die or become a burden.

I like the boat throwing a new spin on things. I think Strand was a high end drug dealer.

Disappointed we didn't see the Cobalt operation after it was such a big part behind the previous episode. Was the production budget so low we couldn't get some good CGI of napalm strikes as they're leaving the makeshift hospital?

Finally caught the last 2 episodes. So Alicia and Chris have this weird vibe going on. How weird would it be for Madison and Travis if they started going at it like bunnies?

Did anyone catch what happened to Travis' friend, the guy with a family, who got sent up to quarantine?
