Women's soccer players Lauren Flynn and Cristina Roque as well as baseball's James Tibbs were all selected as recipients of the 2024 Weaver-James-Corrigan-Swofford Postgraduate Scholarship Awards by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Monday afternoon.

Flynn was one of three ACC athletes to earn the Jim & Pat Thacker Scholarship Award. The Thacker Award, which originated in 2005, is awarded in honor of the late Jim and Pat Thacker. Jim Thacker was the primary play-by-play announcer for the ACC's first television network. Recipients of the award must demonstrate outstanding performance both in athletic competition and in the classroom and intend to further their education through postgraduate studies at an ACC institution.

Flynn started all 23 games for the Noles as their main center back and led the team with 2,033 minutes and also scored a career-high five goals this season. She earned ACC Defensive Player of the Week award on Oct. 31 following her hat trick against NC State on Senior Night. Flynn was also named the NCAA Tournament Defensive Most Outstanding Player. Flynn earned her degree in political science and earned ACC All-Academic honors and College Sport Communicators Academic All-District honors while earning a 3.93 GPA.

Roque earned the 2024 ACC Excellence Award which Award recognizes outstanding graduates from our ACC member institutions. The goal of the award is to highlight the students embodying the student-athlete ideal. The brand of the ACC is our strong history of providing world-class education and competition. The awardees are exemplary students, athletes, and contributors to the community and society and serve as an example to their fellow students.

Roque ended her career as one of the most decorated goalkeepers in school history. Roque was a two-time All-American and was named the 2022 ACC Goalkeeper of the Year. Roque holds the school record for career wins in the NCAA Tournament (17) and career shutouts in the NCAA Tournament (16). She started all 23 games in goal for the Seminoles and allowed just 0.61 goals per game and allowed just two goals in her final two games as a Seminole. Roque was named to the ACC All-Academic Team and the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team. Roque earned her degree in marketing and finished the fall with a 4.00 GPA.

Tibbs, from Marietta, Ga., was Florida State's leading hitter as a sophomore in 2023, leading the Seminoles with a .338 batting average, 61 runs scored, 17 home runs and 43 runs batted in. He also drew a team-high 48 walks.
