Ford Explorer vs Toyota Highlander...anyone?

Never been a fan of the Buick aesthetic personally. The wheels in that pic look like they suffer from GMs chrome clad treatment.

Bells and whistles don't impress me. Not breaking down and looking like a POS after 6 years...that impresses me. Never seen a Buick do that.
Personally, I never dealt enough with the Buick brand to know one way or another...I wasn't a senior citizen, so no reason to care.

However, after having one recommended to me, I've found the Enclave to be one of the best SUVs on the market. Check out the link.

*Also remember, we owned what is #22 on this list and it actually deserved a much lower ranking...what a POS!

US News rankings.

As I mentioned, I have a relatively new Limited Highlander. While deciding what to buy, we had several roadtrips planned, and rented both a Limited Explorer and Enclave for those trips. We drove the Enclave from Pittsburgh to Central Florida and back, and it is definitely a very nice ride, plush even. We took the Explorer from Pittsburgh to the mountains of NC and back, and while it was nice enough, it doesn't really compare to the Buick. Further, some of the design decisions on the Explorer just weren't well thought out, IMO. The Explorer has a number of blind spots that I just couldn't forgive/ignore, and the computer system (can't recall what it's called in Fords) was not particularly user friendly.

Correct on their infotainment system. It's awful.

Never noticed any major issues with blind spots, and certainly not troubling enough not to buy a vehicle, it's safety features are top of it's class. The Ford My Touch system is not user friendly, unless you actually own the vehicle that has one and learn it's nuances, or lack basic intelligence.

Ford My Touch system leaves a lot of room for improvement, that's for sure. When my wife got hers in 2012, I hated it. They keep putting out updates for it, and slowly it keeps getting a little better. The responsiveness of the system when she got it was bad. Everything had about 1/2 a second or more of lag when you pressed the touch screen. It's probably down to about 1/4 a second. Still noticeable, but not nearly as much.

My bigger issue is the complexity of the cabin controls. My wife's Explorer sometimes just starts blasting the fan full speed even though we have it on auto climate control. Not sure what causes that, but it does seem to happen from time to time (usually in the summer).

Nice vehicle, drives well, and I have not noticed any major issues with blind spots.
