Fox sports taking themselves out of the Anthem debate

Simply put, they just aren't going to air that part of the game. It will still happen for the live participants, doesn't address "the issue (s) " being protested.

But from a business perspective, I get it.

I didn't comment on that but did wonder about it as I read. Perhaps they allow them to function completely independently?

I fast forward through most of the pregame ceremonies, but isn't it normal practice for the networks to go to a game just before kickoffs, after the anthem and whatever?

Usually networks never broadcast the anthem unless it's the Super Bowl or some uber-celebrity is singing it.

I have no doubt that there was a conversation between the NFL and Fox about how to best help each other and the solution was just don't show the anthem. Expect other networks to follow.

In all my years watching the NFL, I don't really recall them televising the anthem other than for the Super Bowl. They've all always run the pregame shows up until almost 1 o'clock, go to commercial break, return for the coin toss, another quick commercial, then the game starts.

The NFL and Fox are going to do what they think is best for them as it relates to profits. As always, follow the money.

But they should know that they can't hide what happens during the anthem, too many camera's, so they are only delaying the release of what players do or don't do.

I don't care one way or the other what they broadcast live or don't broadcast prior to the game. What bothers me is that the game and broadcasts pretty much suck and are largely unwatchable.
