FSU 76 BC 77 AKA Random Thoughts AKA The GB&U
Had to do the format a little differently what with a very long day flying, then landing, then flying again, then landing again which is always a good thing), then rehearsing, and then watching a recording of the latest disaster to befall the Seminoles.
Yeah, yeah, BC has a history of giving us problems Hamilton says especially at Conte Forum. But come on, FSU can't beat a 9-11 and even worse 1-8 team in the ACC who is next to last in the standings? Fluky ending or not, on the road or not, frigid weather or not, that just should not happen if you are any kind of quality team.
And speaking of quality teams, Boston College is NOT one. They are 225th in the NET rankings. An 82nd ranked team could not beat a 225th ranked team. Yeah, I know, they nearly beat UNC. As we have found out, UNC is likely to NOT make the NCAA. They are that bad compared to their expected standard as shown by the hammering they took earlier tonight at Duke.
Good thing FSU was making FTs. A lot of FTs. 30 out of 39 to be exact. That equates to 77% (not to be confused with the old, old TV show centered around Sunset Strip).
Great, we get AJ Swinton back on the floor (who scored 10 points) only to lose jerry Deng for the rest of the game with an ankle injury.
Daquan Davis with a nice game (at least at the line and dishing out the ball) with 9 points and 5 assists.
With all those BC players (4) in foul trouble and we could not get any of them out of the game.
Four losses in a row. Who would have thought that was possible in this stretch of the schedule.
Justin Thomas with an atrocious cross court pass that was easily picked off and run to the other basket only to see the BC player clang it high off the rim. Thomas got bailed out on that one.
Fast break points. Clearly teams have are figuring out how to beat FSU. Stop their transition game. Once again FSU trailed in that category with just 5 transition points to BC's nine. We even got outworked on points off turnovers, 15 to 8.
And offensive rebounds by the other team aka failure to block out burned FSU in a big way blowing an eight point lead with just minutes left in the game. Leonard should show the film of that play before every rebounding drill in practice.
With the loss, FSU drops from 9th to 12th moving a lot closer than you would like to 15th where you will NOT be playing in the ACCT much less anything else after the regular season ends.
Could Donald Hand Jr gotten any luckier with that banked in three with time on the shot clock about to expire?
Next up is Notre Dame, who is a half game ahead of FSU in the standings at 4-6 (10-11 overall), for a 7 PM tip in Tallahassee. When we last saw the Irish, they were busily handing Miami their first ACC victory of the season ending a 10 game in conference losing streak. Tuesday's game will be broadcast on the ACCN.
