The Florida State beach volleyball team went undefeated on day one of the annual Seminole Beach Bash. The No. 7 Seminoles knocked off No. 15 Georgia State and Cal State Bakersfield on Friday.
The Seminoles opened the weekend against the Panthers, winning 4-1. Carra Sassack and Bailey Higgins earned the first point of the duel on court three in two sets. Georgia State quickly struck back, winning court five. Audrey Koenig and Alexis Durish won court one in two quick sets, soon followed by Makenna Wolfe and Maddie Trusty taking court four 21-18, 21-10. Gella Andrew and Myriah Massey won court two in three sets to finish the duel.
FSU then swept Cal State Bakersfield. The duel was highlighted by a dominant performance from Higgins and Sassack, winning court two 21-10, 21-7, and by a three-set thriller on court three in which Gella Andrew and Myriah Massey completed the sweep.
Florida State will be back on Saturday at 9 a.m. to take on Houston Christian. Live stats will be available on Seminoles.com.
