The No. 9 Florida State softball team (18-3) began its eight-game road trip with two wins over Jacksonville (11-8) and UNF (18-7) on Wednesday evening at the UNF Softball Complex. FSU defeated Jacksonville, 9-1, in the first game of the day and UNF, 5-3, in the nightcap. FSU has now won seven straight games.

Game 1 (FSU 9 JU 1)
The Noles used some timely hitting and took advantage of Jacksonville's errors to take down the Dolphins 9-1 in the first game of the day.

Isa Torres opened the game by advancing all the way to second on a throwing error and moved to third on a groundout. Kennedy Harp brought her home on a sacrifice fly to put the Noles up 1-0.

The Noles got right back to work in the second inning as a Hallie Wacaser single, an error by Jacksonville and a single by Shelby McKenzie loaded the bases for Annabelle Widra. Widra delivered with her first of two RBI of the day to make it 2-0. Jaysoni Beachum and Harp drew back-to-back walks with the bases loaded to make it 4-0.

The Noles continued its scoring in the top of the third inning as Katie Dack hit her fifth home run of the season to left field to extend the lead to 5-0.

The Noles took advantage of another Dolphins' error as Harp advanced all the way to third and scored on a sacrifice fly from Michaela Edenfield.

Widra hit her fourth triple of the season in the top of the fifth inning to make it 7-0, and the Noles added two more runs in the top of the seventh as Angelee Bueno picked up her first RBI of the season on a double, and Torres singled to right field to put the Noles up 9-0.

Julia Apsel got the start for the Noles in the circle and was terrific as she only allowed two hits in four innings with five strikeouts to earn the win. Jazzy Francik came in relief and struck out three batters in three innings.

Game 2 (FSU 5 UNF 3)
The Noles blasted three home runs and made some clutch defensive plays late in the game to hold on to a 5-3 win over UNF.

After a scoreless first inning, Amaya Ross got on base on a single, and Widra blasted a two-run home run over the right field fence to give the Noles a 2-0 lead.

The Ospreys got a run back in the bottom of the second, but Harp worked a full count and hit her sixth home run of the season to extend the lead to two in the top of the third. Edenfield reached on an error, and Dack doubled to center field to score Edenfield to make it 4-1.

The Ospreys wouldn't go away as they cut the lead to one again in the bottom of the fourth.

Dack hit her second home run of the day on the second pitch she saw in the top of the fifth inning to extend the lead to 5-3.

The Ospreys threatened again in the bottom of the fifth and had a runner on third, but Hallie Wacaser fired a throw from left field to get the runner out at home to keep the lead at two. Widra went on to retire the last six batters of the game to keep UNF off the board. Widra got credit for the win as she went four innings and did not allow an earned run. Danley got the start in the circle and did not allow an earned run either in three innings.
