The Florida State indoor track and field teams’ first day of the Lenny Lyles Invitational in Louisville, Ky., on Friday was highlighted by a school- and meet-record performance from the women’s distance medley relay.

The women’s distance medley team of Suus Altorf, Kaelyaah Liburd, Brooke Mullins and Bieke Schipperen set a new school and meet record with a time of 10:57.0 that is also the fastest time in the nation this season. The Noles erased the previous school record of 10:57.24 that was set in 2021 by Alyson Churchill, Edidiong Odiong, Yasmine Abbes and Maudie Skyring.

Leah Taylor was victorious in her Seminole debut, winning the women’s 3,000-meter with a time of 3:47.59. Curtis Bain won the men’s 400-meter after crossing the line in 48.64.

Four Seminoles claimed runner-up performances. Amare Williams ran 21.48 for second place in the men’s 200 and Shenese Walker finished second in the women’s 200 with a time of 23.85. Takiyah Ferguson’s 56.28 clocking placed her second in the women’s 400. Curtis Williams registered a mark of 7.57m (24-10.00) to take second place in the men’s long jump.

Anthony Herrera finished fourth in the men’s 800-meter, clocking the seventh-fastest time in FSU history with a lifetime-best performance of 1:50.39.

Austin Kleinman placed sixth in the men’s weight throw with a career-best mark of 18.43m (60-0.5.75), the seventh-farthest throw in program history.
