FSU sports information:
The defending ACC champion Florida State men’s tennis team will host Boston College and SMU to kick off conference play this weekend.
The Seminoles will begin with Boston College on Friday at 4 p.m. before hosting new conference foe SMU on Sunday at 12 p.m. at the Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis Center.
FSU has remained spotless against Boston College through 21 matches and has won all 20 meetings in the conference since 2006. The Seminoles and Mustangs have only met twice in the series history, splitting the two matches and facing off for the first time since 2003.
Florida State is coming off its biggest road victory in over a decade after knocking off No. 9 Texas A&M with a 4-2 scoreline. Courts 2 and 3 earned the first point in the doubles round before Azariah Rusher and Alex Bulte each used straight-set wins in the singles round to put FSU within grasp. Corey Craig marched back from a break down in the second frame to force the set tiebreaker before locking down the victory.
The Seminoles swept all three ACC weekly honors for the first time in program history. Craig was named ACC Player of the Week while Jan Sebesta earned ACC Freshman of the Week honors after his performance on Court 3 in doubles. Joshua Dous-Karpenschif and Erik Schiessl were named the ACC Doubles Team of the Week after winning a sixth consecutive match and fourth victory over a top-20 opponent.
Florida State leads the ACC with seven different weekly honorees and became the second team to sweep the ACC weekly awards this season.
Friday will be featured as the military appreciation match with a live anthem performed pre-match. Live video and stats will be available on Seminoles.com.
