Florida State men’s head coach and director of golf Trey Jones announced the signing of Jack Whaley on Friday. Whaley comes to Tallahassee after spending two seasons at Dalton State.
In his second season at DSC, Whaley was the recipient of the 2025 Jack Nicklaus Award for NAIA golfers.
He won the 2025 NAIA National Championship by three strokes after finishing 8-under, 205. His opening round included 10 birdies, shooting 61 at TPC Deere Run, setting an NAIA record. As a team, Whaley carried the Roadrunners to a fifth-place finish.
Whaley finished all nine tournaments inside the top three in 2025-24, including five wins. He tallied a scoring average of 69.52, with 14 rounds under 70.
A two-time PING First Team All-American and conference player of the year, Whaley has been the top-ranked golfer in NAIA since October of 2024.
As a freshman, Whaley registered eight top 10 finishes, including a pair of victories. He placed fourth in the NAIA Championship and finished with a 70.3 scoring average.
Whaley finished the year ranked second in NAIA and was named the 2024 recipient of the Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award, while leading the Roadrunners to the national title.
A native of Doncaster, England, Whaley finished 17th at the 2024 English Men’s Amateur after taking third in 2023. He will look to qualify for The 153rd Open Championship by playing in the regional qualifier at Lindrick Golf Club in South Anston, England on June 23.
