FSU softball travels to Notre Dame

The fourth-ranked Florida State softball team (40-8, 16-2) looks to stay red hot this weekend when they travel to Notre Dame, Ind., to face the Fighting Irish (29-13-1, 11-9-1) in a three-game series. The teams will play on Friday (6 p.m.), Saturday (1 p.m.) and Sunday (Noon). Friday's game can be seen on ACC Network, with Saturday's and Sunday's games airing on ACC Network Extra.

The Seminoles have been dominant in the last month and are winners of 19 out of their last 21 games which includes nine wins over teams ranked inside the top 25. The Seminoles are coming off a rivalry win where they defeated No. 15 Florida 5-3 on Wednesday night at JoAnne Graf Field. It marked the Seminoles' eighth-straight win over a top 25 opponent.

The Seminoles control their own destiny in pursuit of their 19th ACC Championship. The Seminoles hold a two-game lead over Clemson in the conference standings with just six games remaining in ACC play. The Seminoles have had recent success against the Fighting Irish as they have won the past six meetings in the series. It will be the Seminoles' first trip to Notre Dame since 2018.

  • The Seminoles have one of the toughest schedules in the country this season. The Seminoles will play 20 games against teams ranked in the top 25, 19 of those games being away from Tallahassee. 19 out of the Seminoles’ 23 road or neutral site games are against teams in the top 25.
  • The Noles are one of nine teams ranked in the top 25 to play 20 or more games against top 25 ranked opponents.
  • The Noles currently hold a 13-6 record against ranked opponents.
  • The Seminoles have gone 8-1 against ranked ACC opponents this season.
  • At the Clearwater Invitational, the Seminoles played five ranked teams in four days and went 3-2 in those games. The Seminoles defeated No. 4 Arkansas, No. 15 Arizona and No. 22 Louisiana. The Seminoles fell to No. 2 UCLA and No. 12 Alabama.

  • To start the season, the Seminoles played 18 games in 17 days and went 15-3 in those games.

  • The Seminoles have taken on a new style inside the circle this season.
  • The Seminoles have used seven pitchers this season, four of which who have pitched more than 30 innings.
  • In conference play, the Seminoles have two out of the top three lowest ERA’s in the conference. Makenna Reid leads the conference with a 0.29 ERA in conference play with Kathryn Sandercock right behind her with 0.65 ERA.
  • The Seminoles pitching staff has an ERA of 1.12 in conference play and have allowed just 33 runs in 18 games.
  • The team boasts a 1.66 ERA which is 11th in the country.
Seminoles' Dominance in the ACC
  • The Seminoles have dominated the ACC over the past decade.
  • The Seminoles have won an ACC Championship (Regular Season/Tournament) in eight out of the past nine seasons.
  • Under Head Coach Lonni Alameda, the Seminoles are 164-37-1 against the Seminoles’ eight ACC opponents this season.
