FSU sports information:
The Florida State men’s tennis team swept all three ACC weekly honors for the first time in program history. This marks the second week this season with multiple honorees.
Corey Craig was named the ACC Player of the Week, Jan Sebesta was named the ACC Freshman of the Week, and Joshua Dous-Karpenschif and Erik Schiessl were named the ACC Doubles Team of the Week. Craig, Sebesta, and Schiessl claim their first conference honor while Dous-Karpenschif claims his second ACC doubles team of the week honor, his first since 2023.
Craig was tasked with Texas A&M’s Theo Papamalamis, ranked inside the top-50 on Court 1. The junior powered through the first set 6-3 before battling back from a break down and muscling his way to a second-set tiebreaker. Craig emerged with a strong lead before sealing the top-10 road upset and his sixth-ranked victory of the season.
This marks Craig’s first career ACC Player of the Week honor following his 2024 Patriot League Player of the Year campaign at Boston University. Craig was a seven-time Patriot League Player of the Week in his two seasons at BU and entered his first fall at Florida State unranked before soaring to the No. 9 preseason singles player in the nation. Craig earned All-American status in his first semester and reached the quarterfinal rounds at both the NCAA Singles Championship and ITA Singles All-American Championship.
Sebesta has been a driving force in the FSU doubles play dominance this season. Alongside Jamie Connel, the duo secured a tough 6-4 win on Court 3 to clinch the doubles point over a top-10 school.
Sebesta has been named FSU’s first-ever ACC Freshman of the Week since the award was added in 2024. The freshman claimed three victories over top-15 schools including No. 6 Arizona, No. 9 Texas A&M, and No. 15 San Diego. Sebesta entered the fall as the ITA No. 10 newcomer in the nation and has marched to a strong 8-3 singles record with a 3-1 doubles record against ranked schools.
Dous-Karpenschif and Schiessl earned their first ACC Doubles Team of the Week honor as a partnership. The two pushed ahead to an early lead and controlled the remainder of their match to win 6-3 on Court 2 over Texas A&M.
Dous-Karpenschif and Schiessl are undefeated through eight matches this spring with seven wins including six consecutive victories. Through this stretch, they’ve won all four matches against ranked schools including wins over two top-10 schools.
Dous-Karpenschif has continued his run as one of the strongest doubles players in the nation. He and Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc were 2024 NCAA Spring Doubles finalists and were named to the All-ACC Second Team that season. The Lyon, France, native has received conference doubles honors with three different partners and achieved All-American status in May 2024.
The Seminoles will open conference play at home against Boston College on Friday at 4 p.m. before facing SMU on Sunday at noon.
